Giants Fans Had Every Reason To Worry About Cam Skattebo

Cam Skattebo confidently downplays concerns over his daring antics as he reassures fans about his fitness ahead of the new season with the Giants.

Cam Skattebo isn’t exactly built like a player who eases through anything.

The Giants running back plays with the kind of edge that shows up on Sundays and, apparently, in his off-field choices too. As he heads into his second season in New York while working his way back from a nasty ankle injury, Skattebo found himself in the spotlight for a very different reason this week: a backflip at Fanatics Fest.

The move made the rounds online, and it did not go smoothly. Skattebo was captured on stage attempting the flip and failing to stick the landing, which is the kind of thing that can make everybody wince when a player is already trying to get healthy again.

Skattebo, though, wasn’t interested in letting the moment become a bigger concern. In a follow-up appearance, he addressed the reaction directly and said, “I will not hurt myself before the season."

That may be the message he wanted to send, but the optics were hard to ignore. Even a harmless-looking stunt can turn into a real problem in a hurry, and this one came with enough awkwardness to fuel the worry on its own.

There was also a social media post circulating about John Harbaugh, who reportedly didn’t even like Joe Flacco going on a skateboard when he was coaching the Ravens. Harbaugh is now in charge of the Giants, and this probably wasn’t the sort of thing he’d enjoy seeing from one of his players.

Maybe Skattebo comes out of all of this just fine. But with an ankle injury already in the picture, it’s fair to say this is the kind of risk that didn’t need to be taken.

Giants Rookie Receiver Is Getting Lost In A Familiar Problem

The Giants spent a third-round pick on a rookie receiver this spring, but the attention around the position has quickly shifted elsewhere. After adding veteran help in Beckham, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Braxton Berrios, the room suddenly looks crowded, and the newcomer has not done much in offseason work to separate himself from the pack.

That leaves the preseason as an important stretch for the coaching staff, which will need to sort out who fits where while also limiting risk for the more established names. The rookie is still expected to be on the Week 1 roster, but his path to a meaningful role in the regular-season offense is far less certain than it looked on draft day. [Read more 🡒]

NFL Players Just Confirmed What Giants Fans Felt About Dexter Lawrence

Dexter Lawrences name is missing from the current NFL Top 100 list, a notable turn for a player who once sat much higher in the leagues pecking order. For Giants fans, it lines up with what they felt watching him through a less productive season, one in which he looked a step slower in the trenches and no longer carried the same weekly impact.

The broader reaction around Lawrence has only sharpened since the Giants moved on and brought in All-American offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa. His fall in perception also comes with the memory of his clash with Carl Banks still hanging over how some fans viewed him, making the omission feel less like a surprise than a confirmation of where things stood by the end. Nick Sirianni Just Handed Giants Fans Fresh Ammo On The Eagles

Nick Sirianni has never lacked for confidence, and the Eagles coach has the rsum to back it up. With a 59-26 record, multiple playoff trips and a Super Bowl ring, he has spent plenty of time convincing Philadelphia that his approach works, even as his style continues to draw strong opinions around the division.

Now the latest wrinkle is giving Giants fans another reason to smirk at the rival across the river. Sirianni has been leaning on an unusual source for motivational material, a detail that fits neatly into the broader debate over how he leads and how the Eagles respond when the pressure starts to build.
