John Harbaugh has already had plenty to say about Cam Skattebo, and a new sideline clip is giving fans even more to chew on.
The video, shared by Polymarket Football, shows Skattebo mouthing something toward Harbaugh before the coach turns back with a noticeable smirk. The post was captioned, “John Harbaugh looks like he is starting to get fed up with Cam Skattebo.”
That was enough to send social media in two directions. Some viewers thought the whole thing was being blown out of proportion, while others believed Skattebo was pushing it. One fan wrote, “Belichick would have cut him the minute he saw that stupid backflip stunt,” and added, “Hopefully Harbaugh grows some balls and does the same.”
Another pointed to Harbaugh’s history in Baltimore and suggested this kind of situation was bound to happen. “Cam will do something stupid enough to end up in Harbaugh’s doghouse,” they wrote. “Just ask dozens of former Ravens players… or any Ravens fan that watched the team for the last decade.”
Harbaugh, who took over as the Giants’ head coach this offseason after 17 seasons with the Ravens, has already had to address Skattebo’s behavior more than once. Back in July, he laughed off Skattebo’s botched backflip at Fanatics Fest and later joked on a podcast, “My reaction was this: Dude, at least stick it. I mean, land the thing if you’re going to do it, you know?”
That tone changed some last week when Skattebo helped spark a practice fight. After catching a pass and sliding during a Wednesday session, he set off a confrontation with defensive backs Jevon Holland and Greg Newsome. Harbaugh didn’t ignore it afterward, and he used some unusual language to describe Skattebo’s energy.
“He got a 15-yard penalty at the end of practice,” Harbaugh said. “Did you see that?
Yeah, it’s infectious. It can be infectious the other way, an infectious disease type of thing.
We want it to be in a positive way.”
Skattebo is entering his second season and trying to build on a rookie year that was cut short by a serious ankle injury. He underwent surgery after a Week 8 dislocation last October, but he has since been cleared without structural limitations. New York expects him to take on a significant workload, as long as that edge stays pointed in the right direction.
