The New York Giants are on the hunt for more firepower in their receiving corps, and there's an intriguing prospect they might want to keep an eye on in the later rounds of the NFL Draft.
Despite adding Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin III through free agency, the Giants still need another target for quarterback Jaxson Dart. With Malik Nabers recovering from a torn ACL and Wan'Dale Robinson now with the Tennessee Titans, the need is clear.
While the Giants seem to be steering away from selecting Carnell Tate with their No. 5 overall pick, it would be surprising if they didn't snag a wide receiver at some point during the draft.
Enter Bryce Lance, the North Dakota State standout. He's the younger brother of quarterback Trey Lance and is flying under the radar in this draft class.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 210 pounds, Lance clocked a blazing 4.34 in the 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine. He topped the athleticism charts for receivers on NFL.com and ranked second overall at the Combine.
Hailing from Marshall, Minnesota, Lance is the prototypical X-receiver the Giants could use-a big-bodied target perfect for the red zone, something they lack outside of Isaiah Hodgins.
Last season, Lance racked up 51 receptions for 1,079 yards and eight touchdowns, boasting an impressive 21.2 yards per catch. In 2024, he caught 75 passes for 1,053 yards and 17 touchdowns, totaling 25 scores over two seasons. Even though he played outside the Power-4 conferences, those numbers are hard to ignore.
Here's the exciting part: Lance is projected to be available on Day 3 of the draft, giving the Giants a chance to snag him in the fourth or fifth round.
While there's always a possibility a team might reach for him earlier due to his size and athletic prowess, the depth of this year's receiver class could see him slip.
If the Giants decide to hold off on drafting a receiver in the early rounds, picking up Lance on Day 3 could be a game-changing move for the team.
