Giants Are Being Linked To A Major Jonathan Taylor Decision

As trade rumors swirl around Jonathan Taylor, three potential teams emerge as top contenders to secure the star running back's talents.

The Colts may be willing to listen as the trade deadline approaches, and that puts Jonathan Taylor squarely on the radar for teams hunting a difference-making running back.

Taylor has been one of the league’s most productive backs since entering the NFL in 2020, piling up more than 8,000 rushing yards and 76 touchdowns. Even with Indianapolis struggling this season, he has kept producing at a high level. Last year alone, he finished with 1,585 yards and 18 touchdowns on 323 carries.

On Friday’s edition of “The Pat McAfee Show,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said “many teams” would have interest if Taylor becomes available, and he suggested the asking price could start with a Day 1 pick. “You know the goal.

They don’t have a No. 1 pick because of [the] Sauce [Gardner trade]. You know that’s what they’re going to try to get back,” Rapoport said.

“If they have the kind of market that players never have during the season, maybe they can get it. Maybe they get a No. 1 pick and give something back.”

If Indianapolis does move him, the Giants look like one team to watch. According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, they are expected to pursue a running back before the Nov. 10 deadline, and Taylor would be a massive swing.

The G-Men are in first place in the NFC East despite losing Jaxson Dart to a season-ending knee injury, and adding an All-Pro back would give John Harbaugh’s a huge boost. They do not have many obvious offensive holes, but Taylor could still be the missing piece for the 2026 season and beyond.

Seattle also fits as a potential destination. The Seahawks have felt the absence of Kenneth Walker III, and while the front office can’t undo that, a Taylor trade would at least soften the blow of losing the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

The team has already invested a first-round pick in Jadarian Price, but he is not ready to take over the backfield. Taylor would step in and give Seattle a more balanced offense right away.

Then there’s Minnesota, where Taylor would create an intriguing pairing with Justin Jefferson. If the Vikings are serious about contending in the NFC, their offense needs more production, and Taylor would be a major addition. Kevin O’Connell could use both Taylor and Aaron Jones at running back, which makes the fit even more interesting as the deadline nears.

J.J. McCarthy's First Giants Start May Hinge On One Connection

J.J. McCarthy is set to make his first start for the Giants against the Texans, and the early blueprint around him looks pretty clear. The team wants to play to his strengths as a game manager, building the offense around short and intermediate throws that can keep him on schedule and help him settle into the job without asking too much too soon.

A big part of that approach could come through Isaiah Likely, who has become a central piece of the passing game and gives McCarthy a reliable target in the middle of the field. With Houstons defense looming, the Giants are trying to create answers before the rush and coverage can dictate the script, and how quickly McCarthy and Likely get on the same page may say a lot about how this debut goes. Giants Secondary Just Took Another Hit At The Worst Time

The Giants secondary keeps getting thinned out just as the schedule asks for more of it, and the latest update only adds to the urgency. Jevon Holland has been downgraded to out for the upcoming game against Houston because he is still in the concussion protocol, leaving New York to keep reshuffling a defensive backfield that already has been stretched by injuries.

Paulson Adebo was activated from injured reserve, which gives the group a needed boost, but there is still plenty of uncertainty around the back end. Greg Newsome II remains out with a concussion, and the Giants also moved Tremaine Edmunds to injured reserve while elevating safety Raheem Layne from the practice squad, another sign that the team is trying to patch together enough reliable bodies for the week ahead. Giants Secondary Faces A Tough Paulson Adebo Decision

Paulson Adebo is back on the Giants active roster after working his way off injured reserve from a knee injury, giving the secondary another experienced piece at a time when the group is dealing with multiple health questions. It has been a stop-and-start season for Adebo, who has appeared in only one game and has not had the kind of workload that normally comes with a starting role.

What comes next is less clear, and thats where the Giants have some decisions to make. With injuries still affecting the defensive backfield, the team has not publicly settled on how much Adebo will play or exactly where he fits once hes on the field, leaving his role to be sorted out as the secondary keeps trying to get whole.
