The Eagles are casting a wide net in their search for a new offensive coordinator, and one of the names on their radar is Bears OC Declan Doyle. According to reports, Philadelphia has officially requested an interview with Doyle, adding another wrinkle to what’s shaping up to be a competitive and intriguing coordinator carousel this offseason.
Doyle, just 30 years old, has climbed the coaching ladder quickly. He broke into the NFL with the Saints, spending four seasons in New Orleans as an offensive assistant.
From there, he moved on to Denver, where he served as the Broncos’ tight ends coach from 2023 to 2024. His work with that position group helped earn him his current role in Chicago, where he was brought on as offensive coordinator under head coach Ben Johnson.
Doyle’s name now joins a growing list of candidates either linked to or already interviewed for the Bears’ OC vacancy - a position that could open up depending on how the Eagles’ pursuit plays out. Here’s where things stand in Chicago’s search:
- Former Chiefs OC Matt Nagy (Interviewed)
- Falcons OC Zac Robinson (Interviewed)
- Ole Miss OC Charlie Weis Jr. (Expected to interview)
- Giants OC Mike Kafka (Interviewed)
- Colts OC Jim Bob Cooter (Interview requested)
- Eagles Pass Game Coordinator Bobby Slowik (Interview requested)
- Former Buccaneers OC Josh Grizzard (Interviewed)
- Former Giants HC Brian Daboll (Interviewed)
- Former Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury
- Bears OC Declan Doyle (Interview requested)
It’s a list that blends experience with upside. From seasoned play-callers like Kingsbury and Daboll to fast-rising names like Robinson and Doyle, the Bears are clearly keeping their options open as they look to build out Ben Johnson’s offensive staff.
For Doyle, the Eagles’ interest signals just how much his stock has risen in a short time. His background in two different offensive systems - the precision-based attack in New Orleans and the more vertical, tight-end-friendly scheme in Denver - gives him a well-rounded résumé. And his current role in Chicago under Johnson, who’s known for his creative offensive mind, only adds to his appeal.
As the coaching carousel continues to spin, keep an eye on Doyle. Whether he stays in Chicago or heads to Philadelphia, his name is going to keep popping up - and for good reason.
