Travis Etienne Jr. is bringing his talents back to Louisiana, suiting up for the New Orleans Saints. The former Jennings Bulldog is thrilled to return to his roots, where his football journey first kicked off.
One thing Etienne wants to make clear is the pronunciation of his name. "It's not E-T-IN. It's pronounced A-CHAN," he clarified, setting the record straight with a smile.
Playing in the Superdome is a dream come true for Etienne, one that even surpasses his childhood fantasies. "Growing up in Jennings, my goal was to play here in a championship game, but life had even bigger plans," he reflected.
With his eyes set on leading the Saints to a Super Bowl, Etienne is eagerly anticipating his debut in the iconic stadium. "I know the atmosphere will be electric. I'll definitely need to take a moment to breathe and soak it all in," he shared, acknowledging the excitement ahead.
Etienne's stats from last season are impressive: over 1,100 rushing yards with seven touchdowns, and nearly 900 receiving yards adding another six touchdowns. His move to New Orleans also brings joy to his family, especially his mom in Lafayette.
"My mom's thrilled she doesn't have to make those long drives anymore. She's been my rock through every stage of my career," Etienne said, expressing gratitude for her unwavering support.
Having grown up in a family of Saints fans, Etienne humorously noted, "I didn’t even know other teams existed back then." As for ticket requests, he reminded fans, "Tickets aren't free. I've got responsibilities, including my son."
Etienne's return to Louisiana is more than just a homecoming; it’s a new chapter in a promising career, with the Superdome ready to witness his next moves.
