The New Orleans Saints are dealing with another major setback in training camp, and this one hits a spot they can’t afford to thin out.
Head coach Kellen Moore said Sunday that offensive lineman Dillon Radunz tore his ACL, an injury that is expected to wipe out his 2026 season before it ever gets going. For New Orleans, it also means losing one of the more seasoned backup options on the offensive line.
Radunz had just been re-signed in March on a two-year deal after a busy 2025 season in which he played in 15 games and made 10 starts at left guard. At 28, he brings experience at both guard and tackle, and that kind of flexibility is exactly what made him such a useful piece behind the Saints’ projected starting five.
He came into camp lined up as one of the team’s top reserve linemen, with the kind of position-versatility that can save a roster when injuries start piling up. That role is gone now, and New Orleans will have to sort through the rest of the preseason to find someone who can fill that gap.
This isn’t the first time Radunz has been hit by the same injury, either. The former second-round pick also tore an ACL while with the Tennessee Titans late in the 2022 season, then came back to start 11 games the next year.
With Radunz sidelined, the Saints will need another backup to make a push. Jeremiah Wright, Torricelli Simpkins III, and Xavier Truss are among the players expected to see more chances as New Orleans works through the search for depth and flexibility up front.
