Cam Jordan’s latest training camp hiccup is a hamstring injury, and it’s one the Saints will be watching closely.
Matthew Paras reported that Jordan suffered the injury during New Orleans’ Thursday practice, and it has kept him out of action on Aug. 9. The full severity isn’t known yet, but for a player who has been one of the NFL’s most durable defenders for well over a decade, any missed time draws attention.
That durability has been a major part of Jordan’s résumé. The eight-time Pro Bowler is entering his 16th season, which ties him with fellow 2011 draftee Cameron Heyward for the second-longest-tenured player with one team among active NFL players. Jordan was taken 24th overall by the Saints in 2011 and has spent his entire career in New Orleans, separating himself from an already loaded draft class by never wearing another uniform.
Even at this stage of his career, Jordan still showed he can produce. He posted 10.5 sacks last season, a resurgence that reminded everyone he is still far from finished. At the same time, the reality of time is creeping in, and the 2026 season is expected to be his last.
The Saints can at least lean on his track record when it comes to staying on the field. Jordan has missed only two games in his career, and one of those came after he tested positive for COVID-19 rather than because of an injury. With 132 career sacks, he remains the franchise’s all-time leader in bringing down the quarterback.
For now, the hope in New Orleans is simple: that the hamstring issue stays minor and doesn’t interfere with what could be the final stretch of one of the best careers in Saints history.
