Saints Stun Fans by Bringing Back Key Lineman for Two More Years

Saints bolster offensive line depth by re-signing versatile Dillon Radunz, addressing key needs ahead of the season.

Dillon Radunz is back with the New Orleans Saints, signing a two-year deal after exploring free agency for a few days. Last season, Radunz found himself starting at left guard following the trade of Trevor Penning.

It was a challenging role, as Radunz struggled to avoid penalties and establish strong run blocks, drawing eight flags throughout the season. Ideally, he’s more suited as a reliable backup, ready to step in off the bench.

Radunz's real asset is his versatility. With over 1,000 snaps at both guard positions and starting experience at left and right tackle, he's a valuable sixth man for any NFL team. The challenge arises when he faces the league’s elite defensive linemen in a starting role.

Currently, the Saints' offensive line is in a state of transition. They need a backup for center Erik McCoy after losing Luke Fortner to the Carolina Panthers.

Simpkins didn’t quite fit the bill in practice last year. However, when fully healthy, this line has the potential to be one of the league's best.

Securing depth with players like Radunz is key to maintaining that status. With nine or ten offensive linemen typically on the roster, expect the Saints to make additional moves to bolster this group.
