The New Orleans Saints are going to be without Jordyn Tyson for at least the first four games of the season after the rookie wide receiver was placed on injured reserve.
Tyson, the Saints’ first-round pick, has been dealing with a right hamstring injury that he suffered during training camp this offseason. He has missed practice for several weeks, and the move to IR came as little surprise around the league.
“The Saints have placed rookie WR Jordyn Tyson on IR,” Garafolo reported. “He's out at least the first four weeks of the season with a hamstring injury.”
A return for the Week 5 meeting with the Minnesota Vikings would be the best-case scenario, though nothing is certain yet. The current injury is being treated as a separate hamstring issue from the ones Tyson dealt with at Arizona State, and he is expected to miss about two months with this latest setback.
Without Tyson, New Orleans will lean on a receiver room led by Chris Olave and Devaughn Vele. The Saints will also give rookies Barion Brown and Bryce Lance a chance to make an early impression, while Kevin Austin Jr. sits toward the back end of the depth chart.
Tyson’s college path stretched across four seasons, with one year at Colorado and three at Arizona State. He did not become a full-time starter until the 2024-25 season, when he exploded for 75 catches, 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns. Injuries slowed him after that, but he was still on track for another big year before this latest hamstring problem.
