Saints Pressure Is Rising Fast After Public Message To Kellen Moore

Deck: As the New Orleans Saints face criticism from ownership amid a rocky start, head coach Kellen Moore addresses the need for improvement and resilience.

Kellen Moore isn’t ignoring the noise around the Saints’ 1-4 start - but he’s not letting it change the mission either.

After team owner Gayle Benson publicly said Tuesday that she could not accept the level of play she has seen this season, Moore addressed the comment Wednesday and kept the focus on what New Orleans can still control.

“Mrs. B is great.

And she, like all of us, we all want better results and that's how this business is. And so we got great guys in this building that are doing everything they can to find the formula,” the Saints head coach said, via ESPN's Katherine Terrell.

He added: “All we can control moving forward as far as playing better, coaching better, giving ourselves the opportunities moving forward. I think our guys have the right mindset against the NFL. There's ups and there's downs and it's about navigating those & getting better moving forward,” Moore continued.

The Saints have shown a few encouraging signs, even in a difficult opening stretch. They pushed the Detroit Lions to overtime in Week 1 and only came up short after a failed two-point conversion that would have won the game. In Week 2, New Orleans beat the Baltimore Ravens.

Since then, though, the results have turned harsh. The Saints have dropped three straight, and those losses have come with a lopsided scoring margin: 103-64 over that stretch. Only one of those defeats was close.

That kind of slide explains why Benson’s remarks landed the way they did. The owner wants a sharper product, and the fan base does too. New Orleans now gets a chance to steady things on Sunday against the New York Giants.

Kellen Moore Is Feeling Real Saints Pressure After Gayle Benson Speaks

Kellen Moore is feeling the kind of early-season heat that comes with coaching in New Orleans, where expectations rarely wait for the calendar to catch up. After the Saints stumbled to a 1-4 start in 2026, Moore was asked about team performance and about owner Gayle Bensons recent comments pushing for results, a message that landed even harder after the clubs strong finish to last year.

Moore said he and Benson share the same goal of getting the team moving in the right direction, but he did not frame the conversation as one that requires a wholesale change in how the Saints are going about things. The pressure is real because the record is real, and while the season is still young, the patience around a slow start in New Orleans is usually thinner than the margin for error. [Read more 🡒]

Kellen Moore Addresses Growing Pressure Around Saints' Brutal Start

The Saints 1-4 start has naturally turned up the heat around Kellen Moore, but the first-year coach said he is not dwelling on the noise. Moore said he has not met with owner Gayle Benson about the slow start and made clear he has no problem with her public criticism of the record, stressing instead that his focus is on getting the team pointed in the right direction.

Moore said he and Benson see each other several times a week, but they have not sat down to talk through the issues that have followed the poor opening. He also brushed aside speculation about his job status, keeping the message centered on improvement and moving forward as the Saints try to steady themselves after a rough beginning. [Read more 🡒]

Saints Enter New York With Pressure Suddenly Cranked Up

The Saints walked into their New York trip with the kind of noise that comes when an early-season slump starts to feel heavier by the day. Kellen Moore acknowledged owner Gayle Bensons dissatisfaction with how the team has performed, and her public message made the mood plain after a 1-4 start that has fallen short of expectations in New Orleans.

Moore kept the focus on the next step rather than the temperature around his own job, stressing improvement and the need to keep moving forward. The challenge now is obvious for a team trying to steady itself quickly, because the frustration from the top has already been voiced and the margin for an encouraging response is shrinking.
