Saints Fans Just Got A Brutal First Look At The Roster Bubble

As the New Orleans Saints prepare to trim their roster for the upcoming season, key predictions highlight the players expected to make the cut.

The New Orleans Saints are heading toward another round of roster cuts, and there’s already a pretty clear picture of who’s safe. With the team needing to get from 90 players down to the initial 53 before the start of the NFL regular season, training camp and the preseason still matter a lot. But based on spring projections from several New Orleans outlets, a big chunk of the roster already looks spoken for.

Using projections from John Sigler, Ross Jackson of LouisianaSports.Net, and the four-man crew at NewOrleans.Football, 38 players stand out as the Saints’ clearest roster locks for 2026. Short of injury or something unexpected, those players should have little trouble making the team.

At quarterback, Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler are both in that group. The backfield features Travis Etienne and Alvin Kamara. At receiver, the locks are Chris Olave, Jordyn Tyson, DeVaughn Vele, and Bryce Lance.

Tight end is another spot with a strong core already in place: Juwan Johnson, Noah Fant, and Oscar Delp all appear safe. Up front, the offensive line group includes Kevin Banks Jr., David Edwards, Erik McCoy, Cesar Ruiz, Taliese Fuaga, Jeremiah Wright, and Dillon Radunz.

The defensive line picture is just as settled, with Bryan Bresee, Vernon Broughton, and Christen Miller all projected to stick. On the edge, Carl Granderson, Chase Young, and Cameron Jordan are included. Linebacker locks are Pete Werner, Kaden Eliss, Danny Stutsman, and Isaiah Stalbird.

In the secondary, the Saints look set with Kool-Aid McKinstry, Quincy Riley, Issac Yiadom, and Martin Emerson Jr. at corner, plus Justin Reid, Julian Blackmon, Jonas Sanker, and Jordan Howden at safety. Zach Wood is the lone long snapper on the list, and Ryan Wright is the punter.

There are still a few names hovering just outside that lock tier. Offensive tackle Asim Richards, defensive tackles Davon Godchaux and Nathan Shepherd, linebacker Jaylan Ford, edge rusher Anfernee Jennings, running back Devin Neal, and safety Terrell Burgess showed up in all but one of the 53-man projections. They look like strong bets, but not quite unanimous locks yet.

Saints Have 5 Undrafted Rookies Pushing A Camp Surprise

The Saints rookie camp buzz is not just about the drafted names, because a handful of undrafted free agents have already put themselves into the conversation. New Orleans brought in five of them with enough college production, size or positional value to make this more than a routine summer look, and the early read is that a few could force the staff to keep watching once the pads come on.

Among the group are players with very different paths, from a defensive end who flashed major production in college to a massive interior lineman with unusual length and a track record of disrupting kicks. There is also a power back trying to carve out space in a crowded room and a familiar name with a football pedigree, which gives this camp class a little extra intrigue as the Saints sort out who can turn a strong preseason into a real roster push. Tyler Shough Just Tapped Into Something Bigger For Saints Fans

With training camp for the 2026 NFL season still ahead, Tyler Shough found a way to make a Saints impression without throwing a pass. He took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge to support ALS awareness, a gesture meant to bring fresh attention back to research and the people living with the disease while also showing the kind of leadership that matters beyond the field.

For New Orleans fans, the timing and symbolism matter almost as much as the act itself. Shough's involvement fits neatly with the Saints' long-running "No White Flags" spirit and the legacy of Steve Gleason, giving the team another reminder that its identity has always been about more than wins and losses.
