Jordyn Tyson’s return still isn’t right around the corner, but Saints fans finally have a real window to work with.
Kellen Moore already hinted last week that Tyson was not close to getting back on the field. He told reporters there was no expectation at the moment to see Tyson on the field for practice ahead of the week 5 game vs the Minnesota Vikings. Now ESPN’s Adam Schefter has narrowed it down even more, with Week 7 as the earliest possible return and Week 9 as the most likely one.
Schefter’s reasoning centers on the Saints’ Week 7 trip to Paris and the bye week that follows. That setup gives New Orleans a clean reason to keep Tyson sidelined a little longer, especially if the team wants to wait until he can come back on a more familiar surface after a hamstring injury.
A Week 9 return would also line up with a home debut against the Cleveland Browns, which would give the rookie his first NFL game in front of the Saints crowd. Given the way New Orleans has played in front of its fans over the last two weeks, that kind of debut could carry some juice. The Paris field is another factor too, and with a hamstring issue in the mix, there’s logic in holding him out until the conditions are a little less uncertain.
For Saints fans, the biggest development may simply be that there’s a clearer timeline at all. Tyson was absent during offseason activities, then showed up for training camp, and the whole situation has carried that same uneasy feel ever since. Schefter’s report at least gives supporters something concrete to circle.
There are really two reference points here: the injured reserve timeline and the original recovery estimate. Under the injured reserve timeline, Tyson would have been back at practice this week. Monday’s report pushes back against that idea and makes it clear he is not returning yet.
A Week 9 target is later than the rough two-month recovery schedule that had been mentioned, but the Saints’ bye week changes the math. Two months after the injury would have put Tyson back around the week of the Week 6 game against the Giants. Even then, it’s worth remembering that Tyson still has not practiced this season, so a return to the field should be understood as a return to practice first, not immediate live action.
The most optimistic path would still leave him needing at least a week of practice before he sees game action, which is why the Week 7 game against the Giants remains the best-case scenario. But Week 9 looks more realistic now.
It may not be the timing fans wanted, but it is clarity. After two months of wondering where things stood with the rookie receiver, Saints fans at least know what to expect.

Justin Reid Just Gave Saints Fans Another Reason To Be Furious
Before the Saints even kicked off against Atlanta, Justin Reid was trying to stir up the kind of noise that can make the Superdome feel like a different place altogether. It was the sort of pregame push players often make when they want the crowd locked in, and in a season where every little edge matters, the message was simple enough: bring the energy and make it loud.
After the loss, though, Reids message landed very differently. Fans who questioned his play got a sharp response on social media, and the line he chose did little to calm anyone down after a game in which he had some visible struggles. For a locker room already trying to steady itself and a fan base looking for accountability, the exchange only added another layer of frustration. [Read more 🡒]
Kellen Moore Sends Clear Message As Saints Face Early Gut Check
The Saints 45-24 loss to Atlanta in Week 4 only deepened an early-season slide that has already put plenty of pressure on a team trying to find its footing. At 1-3, New Orleans has no choice but to treat the first month as a gut check, and Kellen Moore made it clear after the game that disappointment alone will not be enough to move things forward.
Moore said the response has to come from everyone in the building, with players and staff pulling in the same direction after a result like this. The loss also gave Atlanta a boost to 2-2, leaving the Saints with a familiar kind of urgency in the NFC South and a growing need to show their next performance looks nothing like this one. Tyler Shough Gave Saints Fans The Accountability They Wanted
After a frustrating showing against the Falcons, Tyler Shough did not try to brush off the reaction from the Superdome crowd. The Saints quarterback acknowledged the boos that came after the disappointing performance and said the team had earned that response, a straightforward admission at a moment when New Orleans fans were looking for someone inside the building to own the mess.
Shoughs comments landed because they matched the mood around the team: irritated, impatient and eager for a better response next time out. He made clear he understood the frustration and also stressed how much the Saints need energy and support going forward, a small but important reminder that accountability matters when a team is trying to reset its footing.
