The Las Vegas Raiders are turning to a fresh face with a rising résumé to help jumpstart their offense. Andrew Janocko, who just helped guide the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl LX title as quarterbacks coach, is set to become the new offensive coordinator in Las Vegas.
At 37, Janocko steps into the role for the first time in his career, but he’s no stranger to building quarterbacks and adapting to high-pressure situations. His most recent success in Seattle speaks volumes. Under the leadership of head coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, the Seahawks posted a 14-3 record, finished eighth in total offense, and ranked third in points scored - a massive leap from where the Raiders found themselves last season.
And that’s the real story here: Janocko and Kubiak are now tasked with resurrecting a Raiders offense that finished last in nearly every major offensive category - total offense, points scored, and rushing yards. The Raiders limped to a 3-14 finish, and the front office clearly decided it was time to overhaul the offensive identity.
This hire also continues a trend in Vegas: bringing in familiar faces from the Saints' 2024 coaching staff. Kubiak, who served as New Orleans’ offensive coordinator that year, was recently named the Raiders’ new head coach.
Janocko worked alongside him in New Orleans as the quarterbacks coach, helping guide a room that featured Derek Carr and rookie Spencer Rattler. That Saints offense had its struggles - finishing 21st in total offense - but it’s worth noting they were hit hard by injuries throughout the season.
After the Saints made a coaching change and brought in Kellen Moore last offseason, both Kubiak and Janocko landed in Seattle. And that move clearly paid off. Now, they’re reunited in Las Vegas, bringing with them a proven synergy and a system that just helped deliver a Lombardi Trophy.
For Janocko, this marks a significant step forward in his coaching career. He’s worked his way up the NFL ladder, with prior stops including time with the Saints and now a championship season with the Seahawks. His ability to develop quarterbacks and help structure efficient offensive game plans has earned him this opportunity - and the Raiders are banking on that expertise to help turn the tide.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks wasted no time filling Janocko’s vacancy. Within an hour of the announcement, Seattle promoted Brian Fleury to offensive coordinator. Fleury had been part of the 49ers' offensive staff since 2019 and had previously stepped into one of the roles held by Kubiak in San Francisco before Kubiak made the jump to New Orleans.
As the Raiders look to rebuild from the ground up, the Kubiak-Janocko duo brings a fresh start and a winning pedigree. It’s a bold move - but if their recent track record is any indication, it might be exactly what Las Vegas needs.
