Panthers Saints Get Big Boost From Key Returns

In a dynamic off-season of rehabs and signings, the Panthers and Saints strategize to enhance their rosters with returning talent and key acquisitions, setting the stage for fierce NFC competition.

Panthers' Optimism and Strategic Moves

The Carolina Panthers are gearing up for an exciting offseason, with running back Jonathon Brooks expected to make a comeback from his second ACL tear just in time for OTAs. Head Coach Dave Canales is optimistic about Brooks returning to his pre-injury form, a vision both he and Brooks share.

“I know what that player looks like, so I have that in the back of my mind,” Canales expressed. “And that’s a vision that I hope he has too, so that we can go and attack that.”

Brooks’ enthusiasm is palpable around the facility, as he trains and prepares for the upcoming season. Canales noted, “He’s been working out, training with our guys. And I know that he’s excited about this opportunity to compete.”

On the offensive line front, the Panthers have bolstered their ranks by signing Rasheed Walker and Stone Forsythe. Canales praised Walker's experience and adaptability, making him a strong fit for the team’s system. Forsythe provides additional depth as Ikem Ekwonu recovers from surgery.

“We were fortunate to get Rasheed. Scheme-wise, he can do whatever we ask of him,” Canales said. “He gives us flexibility along with Stone Forsythe, so we have guys that have played significant snaps.”

Saints' Roster Dynamics and Running Back Depth

Over in New Orleans, the Saints are navigating free agency with a keen eye on maintaining a strong roster. Head Coach Kellen Moore addressed the potential re-signing of veteran DE Cameron Jordan, emphasizing the respect and admiration the team has for him.

“We love Cam. It’s an offseason process, and we’ll let that process take its course,” Moore stated. “A free agent’s responsibility is to put yourself in the best position to be successful.”

In a significant move, the Saints signed running back Travis Etienne, which raises questions about Alvin Kamara’s future. However, Moore is confident in finding roles for both players, highlighting the necessity of depth in the running back room.

“Really excited about signing Travis. Obviously, Alvin means the world to all of us,” Moore explained. “We feel like there’s ways you can manipulate all those guys and put them in plenty of situations.”

The Saints boast a deep running back lineup, including Devin Neal, Audric Estime, Kendre Miller, and Ty Chandler. Moore sees this depth as a key strength, noting the valuable experience many of these players gained last season.

“Our running back room, with the way last season went, a lot of those guys got experience,” Moore said. “And then you throw Travis into the mix and it’s a great situation for us.”

With strategic acquisitions and a focus on player development, both the Panthers and Saints are setting the stage for a competitive season ahead.
