Los Angeles Rams standout receiver Puka Nacua, a former BYU star, has entered rehab, according to his attorney Levi McCathern. This move is aimed at enhancing his overall behavior across all facets of life.
This development follows a civil lawsuit against Nacua, alleging he made an antisemitic remark and bit two women on New Year’s Eve. While Nacua’s legal team denies these allegations and plans to file a defamation lawsuit, the accuser is proceeding with her case after withdrawing a request for a temporary restraining order.
McCathern emphasized that Nacua had already been in rehab well before these allegations surfaced and will remain there for some time. The goal is for Nacua to emerge ready to contribute both personally and professionally and to participate in all Rams OTAs.
Nacua is grateful for the support from his family, friends, Coach Sean McVay, and teammates. Despite the lawsuit drawing attention during this challenging period, there’s excitement about his future and potential.
Since being drafted in 2023, Nacua has become one of the NFL's top receivers, with 313 catches for 4,191 yards and 19 touchdowns. As he enters the final year of his rookie contract, his on-field excellence suggests a lucrative extension could be in the cards, though recent events have complicated negotiations.
Rams coach Sean McVay highlighted the importance of Nacua’s growth beyond the field, emphasizing the responsibilities that come with his talent. The Rams are hopeful for Nacua’s continued development and long-term presence with the team.
