Odell Beckham Jr.’s short second run with the Giants is ending before it ever really got going.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, New York is releasing the veteran wide receiver after just three weeks back with the team. Beckham didn’t put up any statistics during the stint, and the move comes ahead of Week 4.
"Sources: The Giants are releasing WR Odell Beckham Jr.," Schultz reports.
Beckham’s return had been one of the more interesting side stories around a Giants season that has already started to tilt the wrong way. New York is 2-1 and tied atop the NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles, but with Jaxson Dart out for the season, there isn’t much optimism about the team’s 2026 playoff outlook.
That left a handful of reasons to keep watching, including Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo, the rookie class and Beckham’s reunion with the franchise. Now one of those storylines is gone.
The Giants made the decision shortly after a Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans and a day after trading for J.J. McCarthy. In that rainy victory, Beckham was on the field for just six snaps.
Across three games, he logged 19 snaps and did not catch a pass. The comeback produced little beyond the feel-good buzz that came with seeing Beckham back in blue.
If the Giants bring him back, it would most likely be on the practice squad. Braxton Berrios is expected to take Beckham’s roster spot, and New York is not likely to cut another receiver to make room for him.
Beckham could also wind up elsewhere in free agency, with the Los Angeles Rams mentioned as a team that could use help at wide receiver.
For now, though, Schultz’s report points to the end of Beckham’s brief 2026 return in New York - a reunion that delivered nostalgia, but not much on-field production.
