Arch Manning’s name still carries plenty of weight, but the draft chatter around him is cooling fast.
Texas’ quarterback is widely expected to be in the mix for the 2027 NFL Draft, yet more evaluators are beginning to wonder whether he belongs anywhere near the top of the board. Some even think he shouldn’t leave college next year at all.
Todd McShay is firmly in that camp. On Thursday, the longtime NFL Draft analyst released his top 10 quarterbacks for the 2027 class and left Manning off entirely.
The idea of Manning sticking around for a fifth college season has been a frequent topic this year, especially on social media. It’s becoming a more attractive path for quarterbacks, particularly when they’re playing for a stronger team.
For Manning, though, the family backdrop adds another layer. Archie Manning got to the NFL after three college seasons, while Arch’s uncles each spent four years in college before turning pro.
A fifth season would make him the first quarterback in the family to take that route.
Strip away the name and the buzz, and the statistical case looks shaky right now. In five games this season, Manning has completed 63 percent of his passes for 1,122 yards, 10 touchdowns and five interceptions.
His four-touchdown outing against Texas State is doing a lot of the heavy lifting in that line. If he doesn’t catch fire over the final seven regular-season games, and maybe the College Football Playoff too, the conversation around his draft stock could look very different when the decision gets here.

Saints Suddenly Face A Crisis Bigger Than Just One Bad Loss
The Saints latest rough patch has turned into something more than a single ugly Sunday. Three straight home losses, first to the Raiders, then the Falcons, then the Vikings, have left the building unusually tense, and the pattern has looked familiar in all the wrong ways: slow starts, turnovers, penalties and a defense that has spent too much time chasing games instead of controlling them.
Gayle Benson made clear after the Falcons loss that this is not the standard New Orleans is supposed to meet, and the frustration has only deepened as the problems have piled up. Even in the Minnesota game, there were stretches where the Saints needed defensive help just to stay in it, which only underscored how fragile things have become as the season has moved along. Gayle Benson Just Raised The Stakes For Everyone In New Orleans
A rough opening month has put the Saints in an uncomfortable spotlight, and owner Gayle Benson did not try to soften it. She publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the 1-4 start to the 2026 season and made it clear that the standard in New Orleans has not been met, putting players, coaches and staff alike on notice as the organization tries to steady itself.
The timing only adds to the pressure, with the Giants up next as the Saints keep chasing their second win. After the latest setback, the conversation around the team has shifted from sorting out early-season issues to whether enough can change quickly enough to keep the season from slipping further away. Saints Face A Giants Twist That Could Change Sundays Matchup
Week 6 brings a familiar kind of intrigue for the Saints, with the Giants offering the sort of matchup that can be shaped by a few late-week developments as much as by anything that happened in September. Ed Valentine of Big Blue View laid out the state of play ahead of Sunday, taking stock of New Yorks offensive direction, the players worth keeping an eye on and the uneven mix of strengths and weaknesses that has followed this team into October.
The wrinkle New Orleans will be watching most closely is on the Giants side of the ball, where J.J. McCarthys role has become part of the conversation and the injury report could matter just as much as the game plan. Valentine also flagged the status of key Giants pieces who would affect how the matchup is played, leaving the Saints with a clearer sense of the threat level but not yet a final answer on how much of it will be available when kickoff arrives.
