Falcons
The Falcons have bolstered their defensive line by signing defensive end Cameron Thomas, previously with the Browns. Thomas expressed his enthusiasm about joining forces with defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.
“It’s very exciting to be able to play for a coach that’s also been a former player. He just throws it all together.
He’s got a really nice defense,” Thomas shared. This move aims to enhance the Falcons' defensive strategy with a coach who knows the ins and outs from both sides of the field.
Panthers
The Panthers made a splash in free agency by securing outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips, who they believed was the top player on the market. His four-year, $120 million contract underscores their confidence in his abilities to make an immediate impact.
In addition, the Panthers signed offensive tackle Stone Forsythe to a one-year deal worth up to $3.25 million, including $1.05 million guaranteed. The contract is structured with a $500,000 signing bonus and incentives based on playtime and team rankings, reflecting the team's strategic approach to strengthening their offensive line.
Saints
The Saints have been active this offseason, with head coach Kellen Moore praising new guard David Edwards as the “ultimate” professional, highlighting his exceptional character and work ethic. Moore has also been a longtime admirer of running back Travis Etienne, dating back to his college days at Clemson.
Tight end Noah Fant finally joins the Saints after multiple attempts to sign him. Moore humorously noted, “Took us two times to get this guy, I give him a little bit of crap for that.”
Punter Ryan Wright is another player Moore has high hopes for, believing his best performances are yet to come. Meanwhile, linebacker Kaden Ellis has been a thorn in the Saints' side in previous matchups, and Moore is relieved to have him on their roster now.
Improving the run game has been a top priority for the Saints, and Moore feels they’re on the right track. However, when it comes to veteran running back Alvin Kamara, Moore remained non-committal, stating they’ll “go through that process” following Etienne’s signing, acknowledging Kamara’s significance to the team.
As defensive end Cam Jordan and quarterback Taysom Hill approach free agency, Moore emphasized the importance of keeping communication open with both players. “You just got to go through a process with everyone and we obviously love those guys … and that’s what it’s all about. So we’ll take it step by step, keep staying in communication and we’ll see how this plays out,” Moore remarked, highlighting the careful consideration involved in these decisions.
