Drew Brees Sons Headed to New Orleans for Major High School Matchup

The next generation of Brees talent is set to take the field in New Orleans, reigniting ties to a storied football legacy.

A familiar name is heading back to New Orleans this fall - and this time, it’s not Drew Brees taking the field, but the next generation of the Brees family suiting up under Friday night lights.

Baylen and Bowen Brees, sons of the Saints legend, are set to return to the city where their dad became a football icon. The two brothers now play for Santa Fe Christian, a high school based in Solana Beach, California, and they'll be part of a special matchup this September when their team travels to face Isidore Newman School - the same school the Brees boys once attended during their early years in New Orleans.

Circle the date: Thursday, September 10. That’s when Santa Fe Christian will take on the Greenies on Newman’s campus. It’s a full-circle moment for the Brees family, and while it’s a non-conference high school game on paper, it carries a little extra weight in the Crescent City.

Baylen, the elder of the two, will be entering his senior season this fall. He lines up at wide receiver and will be a key weapon for the Eagles’ offense. Bowen, a sophomore, is also on the roster and continues to develop his game at a school located just north of San Diego.

While the Brees name is synonymous with NFL greatness in New Orleans, this matchup is more than just nostalgia. It's a showcase of young talent - and a reminder that football roots run deep in this city. Newman, a program known for producing top-tier talent (including another famous quarterback in Arch Manning), will return the favor with a trip out west in 2027 to complete the home-and-home series.

So this fall, when the Eagles land in New Orleans, it won’t just be another high school game - it’ll be a homecoming, a reunion, and maybe the beginning of a new chapter in the Brees football story.
