Chiefs Eye Veteran Pass Rusher With Big Resume

Could the Kansas City Chiefs become the next home for star defensive end Cameron Jordan, as he weighs priorities in the free-agency market?

Cameron Jordan remains a hot topic in the free agency market, with the New Orleans Saints' standout still drawing plenty of interest. Among the teams eyeing him are the Kansas City Chiefs, as reported by ESPN’s NFL Nation beat reporter Nate Taylor.

Jordan, a seasoned veteran, has set his sights on a few key goals: securing a valued salary, climbing the all-time sacks leaderboard, and adding a Super Bowl victory to his resume. The Chiefs, with their impressive track record of five appearances in the last seven championship games and three titles, seem like a perfect fit for his ambitions.

According to Taylor, the Chiefs are actively considering Jordan as a potential addition to their roster. Last season, Jordan showcased his prowess with the Saints, racking up 10.5 sacks, 15 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. Chiefs' defensive lineman Chris Jones even hinted at the possibility by mentioning Jordan on social media, suggesting that adding him could significantly bolster their defensive edge, particularly alongside George Karlaftis.

However, convincing Jordan to join a cold-weather team like the Chiefs might require some extra effort. He's expressed reservations about playing in chilly climates, which could be a sticking point for teams like the Buffalo Bills or Cleveland Browns. Yet, the prospect of teaming up with Jones and Karlaftis, and contributing to a defense that supports Patrick Mahomes-who's on the mend from a knee injury-might just tip the scales.

Seeing Jordan in anything other than the Saints' black and gold would certainly be a change, considering his long tenure with the team. But as his free agency period stretches on, a return to New Orleans seems increasingly unlikely. If the Saints were eager to retain him, one might expect a deal to have been struck by now, especially given the market interest he's generating.
