INDIANAPOLIS - Carnell Tate, a standout Ohio State receiver, recently shared his thoughts on the NFL quarterbacks he’d love to team up with. While he appreciates any QB who can get him the ball, he mentioned Buffalo’s MVP-caliber Josh Allen and surprisingly highlighted Tyler Shough from the New Orleans Saints.
Tate praised Shough’s impressive performance, especially in the latter half of the season. “He had a great back half of the season,” Tate remarked at the NFL scouting combine.
“He won five games for the Saints, stretching the field and being very accurate.” This endorsement might make the idea of a Tate-Shough partnership quite appealing.
As Tate prepares for the upcoming NFL draft, he’s a strong contender to be the first wide receiver off the board. However, if he’s still available when the Saints have their eighth overall pick, it could be a match made in football heaven.
New Orleans is on the hunt for another dynamic playmaker to bolster their offense, and Tate fits the bill perfectly. Standing at 6-foot-3, he showcased his versatility at Ohio State with a robust 17.2 yards per catch, totaling 875 yards and nine touchdowns on 51 receptions last season.
Tate’s connection with Chris Olave from their Buckeye days adds another layer of intrigue. “They might be out there looking for another weapon to pair up with Chris, so to help Tyler in his career,” Tate said after meeting with the Saints. “It would be a great opportunity to go out there and help the Saints win.”
For New Orleans, adding Tate could be a strategic move to enhance their offensive arsenal and support Shough’s development, potentially setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
