The Baltimore Ravens are turning the page on offense-and they’re handing the pen to Declan Doyle.
Baltimore has hired Doyle as its new offensive coordinator, giving the 34-year-old coach the keys to a unit led by two-time MVP Lamar Jackson. It’s a bold move, but one that speaks to the franchise’s belief in Doyle’s fast-rising trajectory and offensive acumen.
Doyle comes to Baltimore after a one-year stint with the Chicago Bears, where he held the offensive coordinator title under head coach Ben Johnson. While Johnson called the plays for the Bears’ No. 2-seeded squad, Doyle was deeply involved in game planning and offensive design-experience that no doubt helped him stand out in Baltimore’s search.
Before his time in Chicago, Doyle spent two seasons (2023-2024) as the tight ends coach for the Denver Broncos, and prior to that, four years with the New Orleans Saints as an offensive assistant. That Saints run is worth noting: from 2019 to 2022, New Orleans went 41-25, won a pair of NFC South titles, and saw eight different offensive players earn a combined 12 Pro Bowl nods. Doyle wasn’t just along for the ride-he was part of a staff that consistently found ways to maximize talent and production.
Now, he steps into one of the NFL’s most intriguing offensive situations.
The Ravens already have the star power. Lamar Jackson is playing the best football of his career, and he’s surrounded by a dynamic supporting cast.
Derrick Henry, the NFL’s former rushing champ, brings bruising power to the backfield. Zay Flowers has emerged as a legitimate No. 1 receiving threat, with Rashod Bateman and rookie Devontez Walker adding depth and explosiveness.
And then there’s Mark Andrews-a two-time Pro Bowl tight end who remains a matchup nightmare when healthy.
Doyle’s challenge? Blend all that talent into a cohesive, high-octane offense that can get over the postseason hump.
The Ravens have been close. Very close.
But in a conference stacked with elite quarterbacks and explosive offenses, Baltimore needs more than just flashes-they need sustained, playoff-ready firepower. That’s what Doyle is being brought in to deliver.
It’s also worth noting that before accepting the Ravens job, Doyle withdrew his name from consideration for the Eagles’ offensive coordinator opening. That decision, coupled with Baltimore’s aggressive pursuit, suggests a mutual belief that this pairing could be something special.
For the Ravens, this hire is about more than just X’s and O’s. It’s about unlocking the full potential of a roster built to win now. And for Declan Doyle, it’s the biggest opportunity of his young coaching career-a chance to help lead one of the NFL’s most talented teams to the sport’s biggest stage.
All eyes will be on Baltimore this fall. And if Doyle can turn potential into production, the Ravens just might have found the offensive mind to match their MVP quarterback.
