LSU’s latest roster addition could be on the field almost immediately.
After Louisiana Judge William Jorden granted former Ole Miss tight end Dae’Quan Wright and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris a temporary injunction against the SEC and the NCAA, both players are now eligible for the upcoming season despite having signed undrafted NFL deals with the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints, respectively. The ruling clears the way for the pair to join LSU’s 2026 roster, with both expected to arrive Friday.
The bigger immediate question is Wright’s availability for LSU’s season opener against Clemson on Saturday in Baton Rouge. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Wright said he expects to play after getting only two days of practice.
That would give LSU another weapon at a position already stocked with Trey’Dez Green, who is being described as arguably college football’s best player at tight end. Wright brings plenty of production of his own, too: 113 catches, 1,603 yards and nine touchdowns in his college career.
Most of that came at Ole Miss. Wright spent his first two seasons at Virginia Tech before transferring to Oxford, where he posted the two best years of his career in 2024 and 2025. All nine of his college touchdowns came in that stretch after he didn’t score while with the Hokies.
His best game for Ole Miss came in 2024, when he caught nine passes for 99 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Arkansas.
After the court ruling, Wright spoke to reporters outside the courthouse and made clear what the moment meant to him.
"I look forward to putting on a college uniform again," Wright said, per ESPN's Pete Thamel.
There’s also the matter of what Wright will wear at LSU. He wore No. 8 at Ole Miss, but that number is already taken by quarterback Husan Longstreet and cornerback Ja’Keem Jackson.
