Jaxson Dart, Giants Fired Up for John Harbaugh Era: “Can’t Wait to Get Started”
Jaxson Dart didn’t just hear the rumors-he was in the loop. As the New York Giants zeroed in on John Harbaugh during their head coaching search, Dart found himself in the middle of it all.
And not just as a bystander. The quarterback had multiple conversations with Harbaugh throughout the interview process, including an in-person meeting on January 14 and several follow-up phone calls.
By the time the Giants made it official, Dart was already sold.
“When Coach Harbaugh's name came up, that was the one that we were all really, really excited about and wanted to have,” Dart said. “So I think from just our standpoint, the guys just can't wait to play for him and have the chance to get coached by him.”
That sentiment seems to echo throughout the Giants’ locker room. Harbaugh, who spent 18 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, arrives in New York with a Super Bowl ring and a reputation for building tough, disciplined teams.
His time in Baltimore ended earlier this month after an 8-9 season and a playoff miss-their first since 2021. Still, his overall résumé is nothing short of impressive: 180 wins, 113 losses, and a Lombardi Trophy from Super Bowl XLVII.
Yes, the Ravens decided it was time for a change after a 4-7 playoff record since that Super Bowl run. But in New York, Harbaugh’s arrival feels like a fresh start-and one that the players are embracing with open arms.
Dart, in particular, sounded energized by his early interactions with Harbaugh. “He was just a coach who I feel like I just bought into the things that he was saying immediately,” he said. “Just the way that he carries himself and can conduct himself in front of a room-and his track record is incredible.”
That track record includes building a perennial contender in Baltimore, instilling a winning culture, and consistently fielding physical, well-coached teams. And it’s that culture-intense, enthusiastic, and rooted in a deep love for the game-that Dart believes will translate well in New York.
“Immediately the winning culture, the intensity, and then just the enthusiasm and love about football-that’s what he carries and brings to the team,” Dart said. “So, just can’t wait to get started and get rolling with him.”
The Giants are betting big on Harbaugh’s ability to turn the page and lead a new era. If Dart’s early impressions are any indication, the locker room is already bought in. And in a league where buy-in is half the battle, that’s a strong place to start.
