Stefon Diggs Linked To Surprise Bills Return After Release

Could a reunion be on the horizon as Stefon Diggs becomes a free agent amid the Buffalo Bills' search for a reliable wide receiver?

The New England Patriots have made a surprising move by releasing star receiver Stefon Diggs, opening up the intriguing possibility of a return to the Buffalo Bills.

Diggs' departure from Buffalo was marked by plenty of chatter about his relationship with the team and quarterback Josh Allen. However, during Super Bowl media day, Diggs set the record straight, expressing nothing but admiration for the Bills. He even addressed the viral photo that captured him giving Allen a side-eye when he was with the Texans.

“They had that picture, right? Of me side-eyeing him,” Diggs explained.

“They just caught it at the wrong time. I was looking at him thinking, ‘Damn, that was my brother.’

We won in Houston, but that’s my brother.”

With the Bills in need of bolstering their wide receiver lineup, and a new offensive-minded head coach at the helm, Diggs could be a perfect fit. The Bills have added D.J. Moore and are still waiting for Keon Coleman to break out, but bringing Diggs back could provide Josh Allen with a familiar and reliable target, especially after Diggs' impressive 1,000-yard season.

As for Diggs’ feelings about a potential return to Buffalo, he made his sentiments clear during Super Bowl media day, expressing his affection for the Bills and their fans.

“I love you guys. I know I’m far gone, but I do miss you all.

I built a great relationship with you all. Keep hanging your head on that quarterback.

That quarterback is a Hall of Famer. Parts of me do wish things were different because I do have a lot of love and respect for that team.”

Moore, who struggled to surpass 700 receiving yards last season and missed the 1,000-yard mark in 2024, hasn't quite hit his stride. Meanwhile, Coleman has yet to meet expectations. Diggs could step in as a reliable target for Allen, potentially serving as the No. 2 receiver if Moore regains his form with Allen's support.
