Patriots Wrap Up Super Bowl Prep with Walkthrough, Team Photos, and Family Time
With the biggest game of the season just a day away, the New England Patriots held their final pre-Super Bowl LX session at Stanford Stadium on Saturday. After a week of focused practices, Saturday was about fine-tuning, soaking in the moment, and spending time with loved ones - a fitting way to close out preparations before facing the Seattle Seahawks.
Light Workload, Heavy Focus
After practicing three days in a row - and four of the last five - the Patriots dialed things back with the traditional pre-game walkthrough. No pads, no contact, just mental reps and last-minute adjustments.
It’s the kind of session where details matter most - alignment, communication, and situational awareness. The physical work is done.
Now it’s about sharpening the mind.
Head coach Mike Vrabel, who’s been here before as a player, took a moment to reflect on the journey his team has taken to reach this point.
“Everybody talked about getting to this point, and hoped for it to happen at the beginning of the year. Now it’s real,” Vrabel said. “That’s what I think has been pretty cool.”
For a team that’s battled its way through the regular season and playoffs, that “real” feeling carries weight. The walkthrough may be light, but the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Seahawks Follow Suit
The Seahawks mirrored the Patriots' approach on Saturday with their own walkthrough session. According to pool reporter Kalyn Kahler, Seattle began the day with a team meeting before heading into a 44-minute walkthrough in shirts, shorts, and sneakers. No surprises here - both teams are in the same mode: mentally locking in, avoiding injuries, and getting ready to lay it all on the line come kickoff.
Say Cheese: Team Photo Time
Before the walkthrough, the Patriots took a moment to capture the moment - literally. Dressed in their game-day whites (jerseys and shorts), players posed for group shots and a full-team photo in the Stanford Stadium stands.
It’s a tradition, yes, but also a reminder of how far they’ve come. These are the images that will live in team history, whether they raise the Lombardi Trophy or not.
The Seahawks handled their team photos earlier in the day at San Jose State, ahead of their own walkthrough. Both teams are now locked in, but also taking time to appreciate the magnitude of the moment.
Family First
After the walkthrough and photos, the Patriots had a chance to unwind with family and friends - a tradition Vrabel values highly. For a team that’s been grinding for months, this time offers a rare moment to pause and reflect with the people who’ve supported them every step of the way.
“I want them to enjoy this time with their families,” Vrabel said. “You can see how many people care about us and helped us get to this position, and this is all part of being able to celebrate it.”
It’s a reminder that while football is the focus, it’s the people behind the scenes - the parents, spouses, kids, and close friends - who help carry players through the highs and lows of a long season.
Now, with the walkthrough complete and the final team photo snapped, the Patriots are officially ready. The next time they take the field, it’ll be for the Lombardi Trophy.
The preparation is done. The moment is here.
