The Los Angeles Rams have already spent the offseason swinging big. A trade with the Cleveland Browns, another with the Kansas City Chiefs, and now the roster looks built for a Super Bowl push in 2026.
Even so, one hole still stands out.
Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton suggested a simple fix: send a late 2027 pick to the New England Patriots for wide receiver DeMario Douglas.
“Los Angeles Rams: Trade a late 2027 pick for New England Patriots WR DeMario Douglas,” Moton proposed.
The appeal is obvious. Los Angeles has Puka Nacua and Davante Adams locked in as the top two receivers, but the WR3 job is still up for grabs. Right now, the Rams would be looking at Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield, CJ Daniels, or Xavier Smith to fill that role.
Douglas would change that conversation. He’d give the Rams a real third option and help settle the one part of the offense that still feels unfinished. Sean McVay is expected to lean on his five solid tight ends, but adding another dependable wideout would round out the group nicely.
The Rams could have gone after Makai Lemon or another rookie receiver with the No. 13 pick, but they chose Ty Simpson instead. If they were to land Douglas now, that draft decision would look a lot easier to live with.
And the price Moton floated is hard to ignore. Douglas for a late 2027 pick would be a strong value, especially after he posted 447 yards and three touchdowns on 31 catches last season. The source also notes he was even better in 2024.
Douglas should be available, too, with the Patriots having traded for A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles. If Los Angeles could pull this off, it would close the book on the roster’s last obvious issue and give the Rams another clean piece for a team already positioned as a top contender.

Patriots First Round Pick Already Facing A Brutal Early Verdict
The Patriots went into the offseason trying to stabilize the front of their offense, and the moves around the line made that clear. Signing Alijah Vera-Tucker was meant to help at left guard and allow Jared Wilson to slide to center, while the first-round selection of Caleb Lomu added another premium young piece to the mix. On paper, it looked like the kind of investment a team makes when it wants to protect its quarterback and build a more reliable run game.
Lomus immediate path, though, is not as straightforward as a first-round label might suggest. He is projected to sit behind Will Campbell and Morgan Moses as a swing tackle, which means his rookie season could be more about waiting than playing. For a player with long-term upside, that creates an early test of patience, and it is the kind of setup that can make a first-round pick look far more vulnerable to scrutiny before he has much of a chance to prove himself. Former Patriots WR Stefon Diggs Faces New Allegations Amid NFL Interest
Stefon Diggs name is back in the legal spotlight, with new court filings tied to a May 2023 trip to Washington, D.C. and a records request that was denied by Christopher Griffith, who has accused the former Patriots receiver of sexual assault. Diggs has denied the allegations and responded with a defamation lawsuit against Griffith, keeping the dispute active even as it continues to play out in court.
For New England fans, the football angle is hard to ignore because the off-field controversy has not kept teams from at least kicking the tires. Reports say multiple NFL clubs have checked in on Diggs as a free agent, a reminder that his talent still carries real market value even with the legal fight hanging over him. The next move may say as much about how the league views the risk as it does about how much teams still believe he can help on the field. [Read more 🡒]
