The Patriots are moving on from another member of their 2024 draft class, with offensive tackle Caedan Wallace set to be released ahead of the team’s first preseason game.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, New England is parting ways with the former third-round pick from Penn State. Schultz wrote, "Sources: The Patriots are releasing OT Caedan Wallace," and added, "Wallace was their 3rd-round pick in 2024 out of Penn State. He will go on waivers as he looks for a fresh start."
Wallace entered the league as the No. 68 overall selection, but his run in New England never really got off the ground. The 6-foot-5, 314-pound tackle appeared in just 10 games across the 2024 and 2025 seasons and made only two starts.
With Will Campbell, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Jared Wilson, Mike Onwenu, and Morgan Moses projected to anchor the offensive line, Wallace had fallen far down the depth chart. At that point, there simply wasn’t much room left for him on the roster.
If the Patriots hadn’t made the move now, Wallace likely would have been on the outside looking in anyway when the team got down to its 53-man roster.
The release also adds Wallace to a growing list of misses from New England’s 2024 draft class, alongside Ja’Lynn Polk, Layden Robinson, Javon Baker, Marcellas Dial, and Jaheim Bell.
For the Patriots, only Drake Maye and Joe Milton have come out of that class as worthwhile picks, which was enough to make the draft a success in the bigger picture. But Wallace’s departure makes it official: another 2024 selection has become a bust in New England.
