Patriots Linked To Pro Bowl Pass Rusher From Division Rival

With pass rush a pressing need and key contributors in doubt, the Patriots have a compelling reason to pursue a proven Pro Bowl talent potentially hitting the open market.

Even after a trip to the Super Bowl, the New England Patriots aren’t exactly in cruise control heading into the offseason. There’s work to be done-especially when it comes to their pass rush.

The numbers don’t lie: just 35 sacks in the regular season. That put New England near the bottom of the league, and it’s a clear area where they’ll need reinforcements.

With K’Lavon Chaisson heading into free agency, the Patriots could be down a key rotational piece on the edge. And while Harold Landry led the team in sacks and flashed plenty of upside, a nagging knee issue has raised some durability concerns.

He’s under contract for next season, but depth and consistency off the edge remain question marks.

Enter Bradley Chubb. According to reports, the Miami Dolphins are planning to release the veteran edge rusher, and that could open the door for a potential fit in Foxborough.

Chubb isn’t just another name on the market-he’s a two-time Pro Bowler with 48 career sacks in 90 regular-season games. When healthy, he’s a legitimate difference-maker.

That’s the key, though: health. Chubb’s battled through two ACL tears in his career and missed significant time with an ankle injury back in 2021.

But last season? He suited up and started all 17 games for Miami and looked every bit the impact player he was drafted to be.

He racked up 8.5 sacks and brought consistent pressure, showing flashes of the guy who went fifth overall in the 2018 NFL Draft and finished third in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. He may not be in the same tier as the likes of Myles Garrett or Micah Parsons, but Chubb brings a level of production and experience that could help anchor a Patriots front seven looking to take the next step.

And let’s not forget-he’s already made an impression on New England. In two games against the Patriots last season, Chubb tallied a sack and three quarterback hits. That kind of disruption doesn’t go unnoticed by a team that values smart, physical football.

With free agency looming, Chubb is expected to draw plenty of interest-and rightly so. For the Patriots, who are looking to reload rather than rebuild, he could be the kind of veteran presence that elevates the defense from good to great. Add him to a unit that already has foundational pieces in place, and you’ve got the makings of a front that can get after the quarterback with a lot more consistency.

If New England wants to stay in the contender conversation, finding more juice off the edge is a must. Chubb might just be the answer.
