That matchup has led to a pretty consistent theme in the score predictions: the Patriots are expected to handle business, even if the Steelers bring enough pass-rush firepower to make things uncomfortable.
Bernd Buchmasser sees Pittsburgh’s front as the biggest threat, pointing to T.J. Watt and the pressure he can create, along with the tight end pairing of Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington as potential trouble for New England’s second-level defenders.
Still, he lands on the Patriots as the better team overall. His read is that Drake Maye, coming off a three-interception game against the Seahawks, can respond if he took something from Week 1, while the interior rush could make life difficult for Aaron Rodgers and throw off the Steelers’ offense.

Pat Lane is even more bullish on New England, arguing these two teams are moving in different directions despite last week’s results. He expects the Patriots’ offense to rebound against a Steelers defense missing Joey Porter Jr., and he says Pittsburgh’s defense doesn’t worry him much.
Lane also noted the forecast could matter if rain turns the game messy, but he still thinks the Patriots should be able to take care of things at home. His score: Patriots 31, Steelers 14.
Matt St. Jean framed Pittsburgh as a useful measuring stick - good enough to beat weaker teams, but short on the high-end talent needed to beat quality opponents.
He believes Maye should have a clearer read on the defense this time, which would help him play with more poise and keep New England moving on scoring drives. On the other side, St.
Jean sees the Patriots’ defense having the edge on the back end and using that to put pressure on an immobile Rodgers while limiting Pittsburgh’s scoring chances. His prediction: Patriots 23, Steelers 14.
Andrew Guindon focused on the way New England might attack the game plan, saying Maye was efficient on the quick, short-passing game against Seattle and that Josh McDaniels should lean into that approach to help neutralize Watt and the pass rush. He also sees it as a good way for Maye to settle in after having trouble pushing the ball downfield in Week 1.
Guindon pointed out that Pittsburgh reached the red zone only twice against the Falcons, and he expects the Patriots to outscore them comfortably. His pick: Patriots 27, Steelers 13.
Dylan Klayman acknowledged that the Steelers defense is not on Seattle’s level, but he still sees enough difference-makers to keep New England honest, naming Watt, Cameron Heyward and Alex Highsmith. Even so, he doesn’t view Pittsburgh’s offense as a real threat to the Patriots defense.
Klayman expects Maye to bounce back in some form, and while he noted the wide receiver room is now depleted without A.J. Brown, he still thinks it will be enough for New England to get the win.
