Pitts would have been the standout name among this year's free-agent tight ends. Despite dealing with less-than-ideal quarterback situations, he's managed to haul in 284 receptions for 3,579 yards and 15 touchdowns over five seasons. His athleticism and versatility make him a potent offensive threat, and the Falcons clearly value his contribution, opting to secure him with a fully-guaranteed one-year deal.
With Pitts staying put, the Patriots and other teams will turn their attention to the remaining free-agent tight ends. Notable names include Cade Otton from the Buccaneers, Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar from the Ravens, and Chigoziem Okonkwo from the Titans. Additionally, Noah Fant (Bengals), David Njoku (Browns), and Dallas Goedert (Eagles) are set to hit the open market.
For the Patriots, the situation is compounded by veteran Austin Hooper entering unrestricted free agency. Hooper, who joined the team in 2024, could be on the move when free agency opens on March 11.
