The countdown to the 2026 NFL Draft is officially on. With the NFL Combine in the rearview mirror and free agency creating a flurry of activity, teams are fine-tuning their strategies.
The New England Patriots are no exception, as they juggle evaluating top prospects and bolstering their roster through the open market. With just over five weeks until the draft kicks off on April 23, there's a buzz around the Patriots potentially targeting their pass rush with the No. 31 overall pick.
In the latest mock draft from Joel Klatt of Fox Sports, the Patriots are projected to snag Texas A&M defensive end Cashius Howell at No. 31.
Klatt acknowledges some concerns about Howell's arm length but insists his on-field performance speaks volumes. "Just watch his tape," Klatt advises.
"Howell was one of the most productive pass rushers in college football, competing in a tough league. With a coach like Vrabel, Howell seems like a perfect fit for the Patriots."
Howell's stats back up the hype, boasting 11.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss in 2025. Hailing from Missouri, he's considered one of the premier defensive end prospects in this year's draft class. If the Patriots do call his name, Howell could be a key piece in revitalizing their defensive front.
