Patriots Eye A.J. Brown Amid Wide Receiver Market Shake-Up

As trade talks heat up, the Patriots face a challenging negotiation to secure wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Eagles, filling the gap left by Stefon Diggs.

The Patriots are in the thick of the wide receiver market after releasing Stefon Diggs, and they're feeling the pressure to fill the void for their rising star quarterback, Drake Maye. With Diggs out, A.J. Brown from the Eagles has become the primary target, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

But landing Brown won’t be easy. The Eagles are demanding a hefty price: both a first-round and a second-round draft pick. This steep cost is causing some hesitation in New England's camp.

Interestingly, the Patriots are the last team standing from A.J. Brown's original trade wish list.

While the Bills, Chargers, and Chiefs have moved on to address other needs or completed trades like the one for D.J. Moore, the Patriots remain focused on Brown.

The negotiations, however, are at a standstill. The Eagles are using the 2022 Davante Adams trade as a benchmark, while others see the recent Stefon Diggs trade as a more fitting comparison.

Even with the connection between Mike Vrabel and Brown making New England an attractive option, the Patriots' front office is weighing whether meeting these high demands aligns with their long-term goals.

Adding to the complexity, reports from the ALLCITY Network reveal that Eagles GM Howie Roseman has already turned down a significant offer from the Patriots. New England proposed a deal involving a first-round and a third-round pick, but Philadelphia is holding out for something more akin to what the Jets received for Quinnen Williams.

Despite having young talents like Kayshon Boutte and DeMario Douglas on the roster, the Patriots are keen on adding a proven veteran like Brown to their lineup as they strategize for the 2026 offseason.
