The New England Patriots are heading to Super Bowl LX, and while the offense hasn’t exactly lit up the scoreboard lately, the off-field storyline has taken a turn that’s equal parts unexpected and entertaining.
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel recently sat down on Bussin’ With The Boys and, in a rare moment of levity, opened up about one of the team’s most talked-about connections - not on the field, but off it. We’re talking about Stefon Diggs and his headline-making relationship with rap superstar Cardi B.
Yes, you read that right. The man known for torching secondaries is now also turning heads with one of music’s biggest personalities.
Vrabel, known for his no-nonsense persona and hard-nosed coaching style, seemed to genuinely enjoy the spectacle. Reflecting on Cardi B’s appearance at the AFC Championship Game against the Broncos - a game played in a full-on Colorado blizzard - Vrabel couldn’t help but laugh.
“I think she’s absolutely hysterical,” he said, recalling her unmistakable lime green hair. “I saw her after the Denver game-couldn’t miss her-it was the only thing standing out in the snow.”
It’s not often you hear an NFL head coach quoting Cardi B, but Vrabel leaned into it. “The stuff she says sometimes like, ‘Take them to Tulum tonight on Delta.’ I’m like, this girl is hilarious.”
While the relationship has brought some color (literally and figuratively) to the Patriots’ playoff run, Diggs has kept things serious where it matters most - on the field. In that gritty 10-7 win over Denver, Diggs didn’t put up eye-popping numbers - just five catches for 17 yards - but his presence was felt. The Broncos’ defense keyed in on him, opening up opportunities elsewhere, including a crucial 65-yard scramble from rookie quarterback Drake Maye that ended up being the game’s only touchdown.
That’s been the story of Diggs’ season. He’s not just a stat-sheet guy - though with 85 receptions, 1,013 yards, and four touchdowns, he’s certainly checked those boxes too.
He’s been the steadying force in a young offense, the veteran voice in a locker room full of rising talent. His route running, football IQ, and ability to draw coverage have been instrumental in helping Maye develop and the Patriots evolve into a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
Now, with a showdown against the Seattle Seahawks looming in Santa Clara, the Patriots are one win away from completing a remarkable turnaround. And while the focus remains on football, don’t be surprised if lime green hair makes another appearance on the sidelines.
As Vrabel put it, “Whatever they do-they seem like they’re having a good time and enjoying this thing. I’m sure I’ll see her this week.”

The Patriots are chasing history. Diggs is chasing a ring. And somewhere in the middle of it all, Cardi B is just being Cardi - adding a little extra flair to a franchise that’s suddenly found itself back on top of the NFL world.
