Mike Vrabel Scandal Just Took Another Turn Patriots Fans Will Notice

In the midst of controversy, Dianna Russini is strategically planning her return to NFL reporting with the help of a crisis PR expert, aiming to set the record straight on her own terms.

Dianna Russini is making a push toward an NFL return, and she’s brought in a high-profile crisis PR expert to help steer the way.

According to Page Six, Russini has hired Melissa Nathan as she looks to repair the fallout from the controversy involving Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Nathan has handled public messes for names including Johnny Depp, Justin Baldoni and Logan Paul, and now she’s reportedly advising Russini as she considers her next move.

Russini, formerly of The Athletic, has kept a low profile since leaving the outlet in April. The scandal around her and Vrabel escalated after photos surfaced showing the two at an adults-only resort in Arizona.

Both denied anything happened. Later, more images emerged, including ones that appeared to show them kissing at a New York bar in March 2020.

Russini and Vrabel are both married with children.

On April 14, Russini resigned from The Athletic after the photos triggered widespread speculation. She said the attention made it difficult for the outlet to finish its internal review. In her resignation letter to executive editor Steven Ginsberg, she pushed back strongly on the story being built around her.

“I have covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout my career, and I stand behind every story I have ever published,” she wrote.

She also thanked The Athletic for initially standing by her, but said the leaks and speculation had gone too far.

“I do so not because I accept the narrative that has been constructed around this episode, but because I refuse to lend it further oxygen or to let it define me or my career,” she added.

Now, Page Six reports that Russini has begun weighing offers to get back into NFL coverage. She also wants to tell her side of the story, though the plan is to do that on her own terms. The outlet previously reported that she had declined multiple interview requests last month.

Nathan’s involvement brings its own layer of controversy. Publicist Stephanie Jones has taken legal action against her, accusing Nathan of running online smear campaigns connected to the film It Ends With Us. Nathan has denied wrongdoing.

Vrabel remains the Patriots’ head coach. He apologized before the NFL Draft and skipped the final day of it to attend counseling, but he did not admit to having an affair.

Russini has not publicly confirmed that she is working with Nathan.

A.J. Brown Looks More Right Than Ever About Leaving Eagles

A.J. Browns move from Philadelphia to New England was framed at the time as the end of a relationship that had gone sour, with whispers about friction with Jalen Hurts and a locker room that no longer felt as connected as it should. From the Patriots side, the deal brought in a proven receiver with a big-game rsum, but it also left behind a team in Philadelphia that suddenly had to explain why one of its best offensive weapons was no longer there.

Since then, the Eagles have had trouble looking like the same offense, and the broader picture around the roster has only gotten shakier. The departures up front and the visible tension surrounding the team have made Browns exit feel even more significant in hindsight, especially with Philadelphia now trying to steady itself while questions keep piling up about where the season is headed. Patriots Injuries Could Force Josh McDaniels Into A Raiders Test

Mike Vrabel still sounded steady after the Patriots recent loss, but the injury picture around the offense has made the week a little more complicated. Ahead of the matchup with the Raiders, New England was already dealing with key absences on the practice field, and the timing matters because Josh McDaniels has a familiar opponent on deck and a short window to sort out how much he can ask of an offense that has been forced to adapt.

The Patriots have been productive enough on the ground to rank 10th in rushing yards this season, and Las Vegas has not exactly been stout against the run, so the path forward may be clear even if the personnel is not. With the receiving group and backfield both in flux, McDaniels could lean even more heavily into the run, leaving the Patriots to see how far a ground-based plan can carry them if the injuries linger into game day. Patriots Fans Are Starting To See Efton Chism Very Differently

Efton Chism has started to look a lot more like a receiver the Patriots can actually build around, not just a name on the back end of the roster. The second-year slot man turned heads with his Week 4 catch, and that moment has only added to the buzz around him as New England searches for answers at receiver. Patriots insider Tom E. Curran recently pointed to Chism as a player worth watching, noting how his style has begun to stand out in a way that fits the kind of reliable inside target the offense has been missing.

The comparisons have naturally drifted to familiar Patriots slot receivers, especially because Chism has long been tied to Julian Edelman in the eyes of some fans and has even maintained a friendly relationship with him. But the real question now is where Chism fits if the injuries around him keep opening doors, and whether his game can translate from encouraging moments into a more defined role. For a team that has spent plenty of time looking for dependable production in the middle of the field, Chism is suddenly a lot more interesting than he was a few weeks ago. [Read more 🡒]
