Maxx Crosby To Patriots Gets Major Update

As the New England Patriots adapt their strategy post-Super Bowl 60, a seasoned Pro Bowl veteran emerges as a promising solution to bolster their pass rush.

The New England Patriots were in hot pursuit of Maxx Crosby, aiming to strengthen their defense after falling short in Super Bowl 60 against the NFC West powerhouse. Despite leading the race alongside the Seattle Seahawks, the Patriots missed out on the star defensive end.

With whispers of Tom Brady's reluctance to engage with his former team, the Baltimore Ravens swooped in, offering two first-round picks to the Las Vegas Raiders for Crosby. However, the deal fell through when Crosby didn't pass his physical, leaving many around the league surprised.

As it stands, Crosby remains with the Raiders until at least the trade deadline, pushing the Patriots to explore other avenues. On Thursday, NFL.com’s Matt Okada highlighted the Patriots' need for a "sack specialist," suggesting that Crosby would have been a game-changer for New England. However, with Crosby off the table, Okada proposed a more measured approach: using their No. 31 draft pick to select a promising edge rusher and complementing him with a seasoned veteran.

Okada listed some intriguing veteran options who could bring both skill and mentorship to the Patriots' locker room. Among them are Joey Bosa, Haason Reddick, Cameron Jordan, and former Patriot Kyle Van Noy.

Bosa, in particular, had an impactful 2025 season with the Buffalo Bills, notching 29 tackles, 16 quarterback hits, five sacks, and two passes defended over 15 games. Although he's no longer in his prime from his Chargers days, Bosa’s experience could be invaluable in guiding a rookie and bolstering the Patriots' defensive front.

For the Patriots, the path forward involves strategic moves to ensure they remain competitive. Whether through the draft or free agency, the right combination of youthful talent and veteran wisdom could be the key to revamping their defense and making another Super Bowl run.
