League Officials Address Tom Brady Comeback Buzz

Tom Brady's recent inquiries about an NFL comeback raise questions amid his ownership role with the Raiders, but league rules stand firm.

Tom Brady, the legendary former New England Patriots quarterback and seven-time Super Bowl champion, recently stirred the NFL waters with a question that had fans buzzing: What if he returned to the league?

Brady, who showcased his skills at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic in Los Angeles last week, impressed many with his still-sharp arm. It was enough to spark chatter about a potential comeback.

However, Brady, now a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and an NFL commentator for FOX Sports, faced a significant roadblock. The league's rules are clear-active players can't hold ownership stakes in a franchise.

This means Brady would need to divest his Raiders share to play again, a move the NFL wasn't keen on.

“They don’t like that idea very much,” Brady admitted, confirming that his inquiries into a return were met with resistance. Despite exploring various options, he remains content in retirement. “I’m very happily retired,” he stated, putting any comeback rumors to rest.

As a minority owner, Brady's role with the Raiders is more symbolic than operational. “I don’t have really a daily role,” he explained.

Yet, his influence is undeniable. When whispers of a trade involving Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby to the Patriots emerged, Brady's name surfaced in the discussions, hinting at his potential sway within the organization.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler highlighted this dynamic, noting skepticism about Brady facilitating such a trade to his former team. “No way Tom Brady was sending Maxx to Mike Vrabel,” one insider remarked, underscoring Brady's complex position within the league.

For now, it seems Brady's days on the field are over, but his impact on the NFL continues in new and intriguing ways.
