Kevin Byard has built a career on finding the football, and Aaron Rodgers is one of the few big names still missing from his interception list.
The veteran safety has picked off 37 passes since entering the NFL as a third-round draft pick in 2016, and he has twice led the league in interceptions. In all, 28 different quarterbacks have thrown him an interception. Rodgers, though, has stayed out of that group.
That could change Sunday, when Byard gets his next shot at the current Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback.
“Definitely looking to get my first interception against Aaron Rodgers this week,” the 33-year-old explained at his locker on Wednesday. “But, no, I think it’s going to be fun, and really I just want to win.
I don’t care if I don’t get an interception. If we just get some turnovers on defense, I’ll be more than happy.
But it’s definitely something that’s on my mind.”
Byard and Rodgers have only matched up three times, and all three came when Byard was with the Titans and Rodgers was with the Packers. In those games, Byard never managed to get a hand on one of Rodgers’ passes.
If he does finally snag one this week, Rodgers would join a list that already includes some of the league’s biggest stars.
“Got [Patrick] Mahomes. Got Josh Allen a couple of times.
Dak Prescott a few times,” Byard recalled. “It’s countless, honestly.
It’s almost too much to count at this point. But I would say those are probably the top two, Josh Allen and Mahomes.
I think I got Lamar [Jackson] too, so I got a lot of guys.”
For now, the footballs from those takeaways are tucked away in Byard’s attic. He said they’ll stay there until retirement, though he has at least kicked around one idea for what to do with them someday: turning them into a leather chair.
How large that chair might be is anyone’s guess. So is whether Rodgers will end up being part of the collection.

Patriots Injury Report Could Change Everything Against Pittsburgh
The Patriots and Steelers both put their Week 2 injury reports on the board, and there is already a sense that availability could shape the matchup as much as scheme.
