Rob Gronkowski isn’t sounding alarmed about the Patriots’ injury pileup. He’s looking past it.
During a recent segment on Fox Sports’ “The Gronk and Jules Show,” the former New England tight end said the 3-2 Patriots are dealing with setbacks that shouldn’t linger, and he expects the roster to be at full strength before long.
“[They] are not serious injuries,” Gronkowski said. “They’re all going to come back together, and they’re going to be playing together all at once on the field. That’s where they’re going to be very dangerous as well, when they get all their star players back on the offensive side of the ball, and defensive side of the ball.
“And it’s going to happen, about Week 8, 9, 10,” Gronkowski predicted. “They’re going to be firing on all cylinders.”
New England has already been hit with injuries to cornerbacks Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, Karon Prunty, and Channing Canada. Fullback Reggie Gilliam, along with wide receivers A.J. Brown and Mack Hollins, have also been out, with both receivers placed on injured reserve.
The outlook Gronkowski painted is built on the idea that these absences won’t stretch into the long term. That’s the expectation for the players listed, though football has a way of complicating even the cleanest projections. The one name that may not fit that window is left tackle Will Campbell, who is reportedly considered “week-to-week” and could be out longer.
Even with the injuries adding up, the Patriots have kept rallying around Drake Maye. And Julian Edelman thinks the rough opening stretch could end up working in New England’s favor once the team starts getting bodies back.
“Maybe that early-season adversity was good for this team,” posited Edelman. “Maybe they needed it.”
“You need that sometimes. You need a little taste of reality,” he added.
“You need a little cement. You’ve got to take a little teaspoon of cement and toughen up, that’s what they’ve done.”

A.J. Browns Return Looks Even Better For Patriots Fans
A.J. Brown has settled in quickly since arriving in New England, and the move is starting to look like one that fit the Patriots offense from the start. The veteran receiver has blended in well after the trade from Philadelphia before the 2026 season, giving this team a proven target and giving fans a fresh reason to feel good about a deal that already had plenty of attention around it.
Philadelphias side of the transaction has only made the conversation louder. The Eagles have been dealing with injuries, coaching questions, and a rough start that has kept the trade in the spotlight, while analysts continue to revisit what Browns departure means for both teams. For the Patriots, the bigger question now is how far this connection can go if his early comfort in the offense keeps building. [Read more 🡒]
Patriots Jets Matchup Features More Familiar Faces Than Fans Realize
An AFC East meeting between the Patriots and Jets is bringing a little extra familiarity to the sideline and the game plan. Both rosters include players who have already taken roundabout routes through New England and New York, a reminder of how often these division rivals have crossed paths in recent seasons and how many personnel ties still linger when they meet again.
Among the names with that shared history are Andrew Beck, Chukwuma Okorafor, Morgan Moses, Alijah Vera-Tucker and Greg Van Roten, each of whom has spent time with both clubs in different stops along the way. For a game that already carries plenty of division weight, those connections add another layer of recognition, even if the more interesting part is which of those familiar faces ends up making the biggest impact when the ball is kicked off. Patriots Have A Roster Squeeze They Can't Ignore Before Jets
The Patriots win over the Raiders gave them a little breathing room, but it also came with the kind of roster housekeeping that tends to follow a physical game. New England has been juggling injuries, evaluating where it might need outside help, and cycling through practice squad additions and subtractions as it tries to keep enough depth in place for a stretch that only gets tougher from here. All of it feeds into a week that already has the Jets waiting, which makes every available body feel more valuable than usual.
At the same time, the team is nearing the point where players on injured reserve can start coming back into the picture, and that creates a problem as much as an opportunity. The Patriots do not have unlimited room to maneuver, so decisions about who gets a shot to return and who stays sidelined will carry real weight over the next few days. For a team trying to build on one win while staying flexible for what comes next, the squeeze is already here. [Read more 🡒]
