The hardest part of Linsey Devey’s grief came nearly three months after Jordan Devey’s death, when she had to tell their 11-year-old son, Cash, how his father died.
Jordan Devey, the former NFL offensive lineman who won a Super Bowl ring with the Patriots, died by suicide in July 2026 at age 38. Linsey announced the news on what would have been their 15th wedding anniversary. Devey played eight seasons in the NFL, spending time with the Patriots, Chiefs and 49ers before moving into high school football coaching in Idaho.
After his death, Devey’s parents said they believe he had been living with severe CTE symptoms. Because of the circumstances surrounding his death, medical professionals cannot do definitive posthumous testing.
Linsey later described the moment she broke the news to Cash in an Instagram post. “‘The day I told Cash his dad had gone home to Heaven, his world shattered,’ Linsey shared on Instagram. ‘He ran outside and let out a scream that no 11-year-old should ever have to carry.’”
But she said her son’s reaction didn’t end there. After his initial breakdown, Cash came back inside, wiped away his tears and tried to steady his mother.
He told her, “Mom, we can do this together. Don’t take your own life.”
Linsey said those words will stay with her forever. “‘He wiped his tears, walked back to me, and with a strength I know came from Christ, said, ‘Mom, we can do this together.
Don’t take your own life,’ she wrote. ‘In the middle of his deepest grief, he reminded me that we would not face it alone.
I will never forget those words.’”
She also recalled watching Cash hold Jordan Devey’s hand for the last time. “‘In that moment, he didn’t just lose his father,’ she explained. ‘He lost his best friend, his mentor, and the coach who taught him how to love, lead, and believe.’”
Linsey concluded by saying Cash carries the same kind heart, quiet compassion and spiritual strength as his father. The couple shared four children: Cash, 11, MJ, 8, Winnie, 4, and Stevie, 2.

Patriots Fans Are Starting To See Efton Chism Very Differently
Efton Chism has gone from an afterthought to a name Patriots fans are starting to track a lot more closely. The second-year slot receiver has shown enough in recent weeks to get noticed, including a memorable catch in Week 4, and his timing makes the interest feel even more relevant with injuries thinning out the receiver room. Around New England, that has naturally brought more attention to what kind of role he might be able to carve out in the offense.
Patriots insider Tom E. Curran has been part of that conversation, weighing Chisms style and how it might fit if the team needs another dependable option inside. Chism has already invited the easy comparisons, too, with some seeing shades of Julian Edelman and noting his friendly relationship with the former Patriots star. The bigger question now is whether what Chism has flashed can keep translating once the workload and the expectations both start to rise. [Read more 🡒]
Drake Maye Faces A Bigger Test As Patriots Hope Momentum Is Real
Drake Maye has already gone through the kind of early-season adjustment every young quarterback eventually faces, with opponents building a better scouting file and forcing him to work through it. After a challenging start, he showed clear progress against the Bills, and now the Patriots are trying to figure out whether that performance was the beginning of something real or just one sharp afternoon in an uneven stretch.
The next chance to answer that comes against a Raiders defense preparing with full respect for what Maye can do. If he keeps building on the signs he showed last week, New England could start turning recent momentum into a genuine winning streak, which is exactly the sort of development this team has been waiting to see from its quarterback. Patriots Have A Chance To End One Frustrating Home Trend Sunday
The Patriots got through a tough opening month of the 2026 season at 2-2, and the schedule now gives them a chance to turn a recent breakthrough into something steadier at home. After the win over the Bills, New England heads into Sunday with the kind of momentum it has been trying to build for a while, especially at Gillette Stadium, where consistency has been hard to come by since 2020.
A visit from the Raiders arrives with the kind of test that can say a lot about where this team is headed next. The Patriots have another shot to strengthen their home footing before the Jets come to town, and the focus will be on whether they can keep stacking wins against opponents that will demand more from Drake Maye and the rest of the offense.
