Drake Maye's remarkable 2025 season with the New England Patriots has earned him a spot among Pro Football Focus’ top 101 players, coming in at an impressive No. 25.
At just 23, Maye showcased his talent by leading the Patriots to the Super Bowl, despite falling short in the final game. With a 14-3 regular-season record, Maye's performance was pivotal, and he finished as the runner-up for the AP NFL MVP award, boasting a league-leading 72% completion rate.
Maye, a standout from the 2024 quarterback class, demonstrated his prowess with an 80.7 overall PFF grade and a 76.6 passing grade. His ability to make big plays was evident with a 4.9% big-time throw rate.
Not just a threat through the air, Maye also excelled on the ground, earning a 79.7 rushing grade and leading the league with 74 scrambles. While the playoffs presented challenges, dropping his passing grade to 35.3, his regular-season excellence with an 87.7 grade secured his high MVP voting position.
In the postseason, Maye's completion rate dipped to 58.3%, and he threw four interceptions over four games. Despite these struggles, his regular-season achievements were enough to place him ahead of notable players like Miami Dolphins' De’Von Achane (No. 30) and Atlanta Falcons' Chris Lindstrom (No. 29) on the PFF list.
However, he was edged out by Cincinnati Bengals' Ja’Marr Chase (No. 24) and Tennessee Titans' Jeffery Simmons (No. 22).
Maye's season was a testament to his skill and potential, marking him as a key player to watch in the coming years.
