Cowboys Re-Sign Corey Ballentine, Sparking Buzz Among Fans

The Dallas Cowboys have extended their roster by re-signing journeyman defensive back Corey Ballentine, marking his return with a blend of experience and adaptability.

The Dallas Cowboys have made a strategic move by re-signing defensive back Corey Ballentine. This decision, confirmed by the NFL’s Official Transaction Wire, brings back a player with a well-traveled history in the league.

Ballentine, now 29, began his NFL journey as a sixth-round pick by the New York Giants in 2019. His path has been anything but linear, with stops at several teams along the way.

After the Giants waived him in 2020, the Jets quickly picked him up. However, his time in New York was short-lived, and he soon found himself claimed by the Detroit Lions.

Despite being cut from their active roster, he stayed on with their practice squad, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.

His journey continued with a futures deal with the Atlanta Falcons, but he didn’t make the final roster. A brief stint with the Cardinals’ practice squad followed before he landed with the Green Bay Packers. The Packers saw potential in Ballentine, extending his contract for the 2023 season after he joined their active roster in 2022.

The Colts brought him in for the 2024 season, but he was released during training camp. Ballentine's persistence paid off with subsequent opportunities at the Packers and Patriots, though his time with the Patriots ended in September 2025.

Undeterred, Ballentine joined the Cowboys’ practice squad, eventually earning a spot on their active roster for the remainder of the season. In 2025, he appeared in six games split between the Cowboys and Patriots, contributing three tackles.

Ballentine’s return to the Cowboys underscores their belief in his potential and versatility. His journey through the league exemplifies the determination and adaptability required to succeed at this level. As he re-joins the Cowboys, fans will be eager to see how his experience and tenacity translate on the field.
