ACC Power Makes Shock Coaching Hire In Wild Game-Changer

Luke Murray, noted for his offensive acumen and championship experience at UConn, steps up as Boston Colleges new head coach to rejuvenate their faltering basketball program.

Luke Murray, a long-time assistant coach for UConn's men's basketball team, is stepping into the spotlight as he takes the helm at Boston College. Officially announced as the 14th head coach in the program's history, Murray is set to bring his wealth of experience and innovative offensive strategies to Chestnut Hill.

During his five seasons with the Huskies, Murray played a pivotal role in their back-to-back national championships in 2022-23 and 2023-24. Under the guidance of Dan Hurley, he became a versatile asset, mastering everything from recruiting to scouting and player development.

But it’s his offensive acumen that truly sets him apart. Murray was instrumental in evolving UConn’s style into a more Eurocentric, fast-paced offense, consistently achieving top rankings in offensive efficiency.

Now, Murray faces the challenge of revitalizing a struggling Boston College team. He steps in for Earl Grant, who was let go after five seasons.

The Eagles have had a tough run, finishing at the bottom of the ACC last season with an 11-20 overall record and a 4-14 mark in conference play. Only Georgia Tech fared worse in the ACC standings.

This new role marks Murray’s first as a head coach, but he’s no stranger to the sidelines. His decade-long journey includes assistant positions at Post, Wagner, Towson, Xavier, Rhode Island, and Louisville. With his deep understanding of the game and proven track record, Boston College fans have reason to be optimistic about the future.
