A.J. Brown didn’t need to be in Philadelphia to let Jalen Hurts know where he stands.
After Hurts was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli - blood clots in his lungs that are expected to end his 2026 season - Brown shared a message full of concern and respect for his former quarterback.

“It's a tough situation. I got a lot of love for him.
Praying for him. I didn't know how serious it was,” Brown said, via Eliot Shorr-Parks.

Brown, now a New England Patriots wide receiver after being traded from Philadelphia, and Hurts spent multiple seasons together with the Eagles. That partnership helped fuel a run to the Super Bowl and a championship, and Brown’s words made it clear the bond stuck even after the move.
The Eagles are now facing life without their starting quarterback as they try to get their season back on track, but the bigger story is Hurts’ health. Following further medical evaluations, the diagnosis was made, and both the team and his agent have said he is clinically stable and expected to make a full recovery.
Hurts will be treated with blood thinners and stay away from contact football activities until he is medically cleared. For now, the focus is on recovery, not football, and Brown’s message was another sign of the support surrounding Hurts as he deals with a serious setback away from the field.

Patriots Need DeMario Douglas To Answer For A Costly Mistake
The Patriots are trying to steady a 1-2 start while dealing with injuries and turnover issues, and DeMario Douglas remains one of the few bright spots in the passing game. The second-year receiver has given the offense a needed spark over the last month, becoming a more consistent target as New England searches for answers around him.
Against the Jets, though, Douglas put the ball on the ground in a moment that stood out in a game already shaped by mistakes. He has already acknowledged the error and knows the Patriots need cleaner play from a player they are counting on even more now, with injuries thinning out the rest of the offensive options. Patriots Injury Report Puts Two Critical Position Groups In Focus
The Patriots injury report on Wednesday put a couple of key spots under the microscope as they began to turn the page toward Chicago. Carlton Davis III was back on the field in a limited capacity after missing multiple practices and games with a neck injury, a sign that New England is at least getting some movement in the right direction on defense. There were still several players working as non-participants or limited participants, leaving the coaching staff to manage another week with the roster in flux.
The bigger concern, though, sits in the trenches, where Mike Vrabel sounded pessimistic about the teams guard depth for the upcoming matchup with the Bears. With the line already dealing with uncertainty, the Patriots may have to piece things together again up front if the availability picture does not improve later in the week. For a team trying to stabilize both protection and physicality, the injury report feels especially important this time around. [Read more 🡒]
Patriots Suddenly Have A Bigger Romeo Doubs Problem Than Expected
The Patriots receiver room took a hit in the kind of way that can reshape a game plan overnight. Romeo Doubs suffered a shoulder injury on his touchdown catch against the Jets and has since been placed on injured reserve, leaving New England to sort through a thin group at a position where every available body matters.
Mike Vrabel said there is no set timeline for Doubs to return this season, which only adds to the uncertainty as the Bears game approaches. With just four active wide receivers on the roster and offensive line injuries piling up as well, the Patriots are suddenly dealing with a depth problem that stretches beyond one injury and into the way they may have to piece together the offense going forward.
