Nebraska’s 2027 recruiting class is already deep, and now the Huskers may be on the verge of making it even louder.
Matt Rhule has Nebraska sitting on 22 commitments, with 10 of them rated as blue-chip prospects. The class currently checks in at No. 16 in the 247 Sports team rankings, and it already stands as the program’s strongest haul since Bill Callahan was leading the team more than 20 years ago. It also includes Trae Taylor, the five-star quarterback who is the No. 1 quarterback in the 247 Sports composite rankings and is expected to sign with Nebraska.
That group could still get a major boost if the Huskers can land five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson, the No. 19 overall player in the class.
Steve Wiltfong of Rivals pointed to Nebraska in his latest piece, “Nebraska’s 2027 class is loaded, No. 2 TE could make it elite,” and suggested the situation is moving toward a decision.
No predictions have been logged for Hudson to flip, but the momentum appears to be building in Nebraska’s direction. Wiltfong said it would not be a surprise if the Huskers pulled off the flip of the 6-foot-5, 240-pound tight end, who also stands out as a basketball player.
Nebraska’s pitch has plenty going for it. Fred Hoiberg has already offered Hudson a scholarship to play basketball for the Huskers, and Taylor has been pushing hard for him as well.
There has also been a recent report that Hudson will visit Nebraska in the fall, possibly more than once. Another report said Hudson feels like Nebraska is recruiting him harder than LSU.
Wiltfong also noted that contact between Hudson and LSU remains steady, so this one is far from finished. But with a possible “finality in the next couple of weeks,” Nebraska may be close to turning a strong class into something even bigger.
