Nebraska’s top-ranked volleyball team kept its perfect season rolling Thursday night with another dominant straight-set win, this time over UCLA, 25-19, 25-11, 25-16.
The Huskers improved to 20-0 overall and 9-0 in Big Ten play, and they did it in emphatic fashion. Nebraska hit .380 as a team while holding UCLA to just .036, a performance that delivered the program’s 10th 20-0 start in school history.
The victory also pushed Nebraska’s regular-season winning streak to 51 matches, the second-longest run in program history during the NCAA era.
Andi Jackson paced the Huskers with 11 kills on .625 hitting, a night that also included six blocks and three digs. It was her 36th career match with at least 10 kills.
Virginia Adriano added 10 kills on .333 hitting, while Harper Murray finished with nine kills, five digs, and three blocks. Teraya Sigler contributed eight kills on .471 hitting and five digs, and Manaia Ogbechie supplied four kills and three blocks.
Thursday also brought a pair of midseason honors for Nebraska football. Center Justin Evans and linebacker Owen Chambliss were both named to The Athletic Mid-Season All-America Team. Evans is viewed as one of the nation’s top centers, while Chambliss is aiming to follow up his 100-tackle season from last year with San Diego State.
Elsewhere, Hall of Famer and Southern head coach Marshall Faulk said earlier this week that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Faulk said he caught it early enough that his treatments are allowing him to live his life normally so far. Nebraska fans may remember that the Huskers once recruited him, but Tom Osborne wanted to move him to defensive back, so he instead chose San Diego State.
In college football, James Madison’s unbeaten run ended Thursday night in overtime, with App State winning 34-31. Memphis also picked up an overtime win, beating East Carolina 41-34 to move to 6-2.
Former Maryland coach Mike Locksley told ESPN a day after his dismissal that he does not expect another chance to be a head coach in college football, though he hopes to rebuild his career in the NFL or as a coordinator at a college program “you can win a championship at.”
Nebraska women’s basketball is set to open its 2026-27 season with an exhibition against Wayne State on Friday, October 23 at 6 pm (CT) at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
On the soccer side, Nebraska matched its longest shutout streak since 2016 in a 0-0 draw with USC at Barbara Hibner Stadium. The result was the Huskers’ nation-leading 10th draw, leaving them at 3-3-10 on the season.
Nebraska’s final home match of the year comes Sunday, October 25 against No. 10 UCLA.

Nebraska Just Got An Uncomfortable Reminder About Local QB Talent
Friday night gave Nebraska fans a jarring reminder that the states quarterback pipeline is still producing plenty of big-time talent. In a matchup between Omaha Westside and Millard South, Missouri commit Braylen Warren came out on top with a 41-17 win over Nebraska commit Trae Taylor, and the game quickly became more than just another high school result. For the Cornhuskers, it was a local spotlight game with two of the regions most closely watched quarterbacks on the same field, and Warren had the better night.
Taylors rough second half made the ending sting even more, with three interceptions helping swing the game in Westsides favor. For Nebraska, the result serves as an uncomfortable reminder that in-state recruiting battles are never straightforward, even when the Huskers are in the mix for one of their own. For both quarterbacks, the film will matter as much as the final score, and this one adds a little more scrutiny to a rivalry between two highly regarded prospects with their recruiting reputations on the line. Nebraska May Be Overlooking Another In-State Star Again
Tay Tay Jenkins has put together the kind of high school rsum that should be hard to ignore in Nebraska, piling up more than 5,000 career rushing yards while adding 73 touchdowns for Omaha Westside. He has also shown enough as a receiver to make himself more than just a traditional backfield threat, a combination that usually attracts plenty of attention from major college programs.
For now, though, the scholarship list remains surprisingly thin, with South Dakota standing as the lone notable offer. Interest from other schools is said to be picking up, and his coach expects an FBS program to come through before national signing day, which would fit the pattern Nebraska fans know all too well when an in-state talent starts to draw notice a little later than expected. Westside Just Turned Nebraskas Class A Playoff Race Upside Down
Omaha Westside closed the regular season in emphatic fashion Friday night, rolling past Millard South 41-17 to cap an undefeated run and shake up Nebraskas Class A playoff picture. The matchup had the feel of a measuring stick game, and Westside answered it with a statement performance behind Missouri commit Braylen Warren, who accounted for five touchdowns as the Warriors controlled the game from start to finish.
The win also brought an end to Millard Souths 33-game winning streak, a streak that had defined the Class A landscape. Westsides defense added to the damage by intercepting quarterback Trae Taylor three times, and now the Warriors head into the state playoffs looking every bit like a top contender with momentum, confidence and a result that has already changed the conversation.
