Nebraska has kept itself in the conversation for five-star tight end Ahmad Hudson, and the elite 2027 recruit isn’t closing the door just yet.
Hudson told Rivals this week that he and his family are still sorting through the process. “We’re taking our time and making sure we’re doing what’s best for me,” Hudson told Sam Spiegelman of Rivals.
The Huskers have clearly made an impression. Hudson pointed to the way Nebraska’s staff has handled his recruitment and the relationships they’ve built with him and his family.
“Just the relationships I’ve built with the coaches and how genuine they’ve been with me, my mom and my brother through the whole process,” he said of their efforts. “They have stayed consistent and made it clear how much they believe in me and how they see me fitting into what they’re building. My mom and I have a lot of respect for them, so we’re just taking our time with everything.”
That doesn’t mean Nebraska has the edge. LSU remains the favorite to keep his commitment. Still, the fact that Hudson hasn’t shut things down is a real opening for Matt Rhule’s program, especially with the buzz on the Nebraska side that the Huskers like where they stand.
The next step would be a Gameday visit this fall. If Hudson makes that trip back to Lincoln, Nebraska fans will have plenty of reason to keep dreaming.
On the quarterback front, Nebraska took a small hit in the perception department this week. Ari Wasserman of On3 ranked the top 10 quarterbacks in the Big Ten on Tuesday, and Anthony Colandrea was left off the list.
That’s notable because Colandrea is expected to start for Nebraska. Wasserman did include younger names such as Bryce Underwood and Malik Washington ahead of him, a placement that can be debated, especially with Colandrea coming off Mountain West Player of the Year honors.
The Big Ten is loaded, so there’s not much room for outrage. But with only 18 teams in the league, Nebraska needs Colandrea to play like one of the conference’s 10 best quarterbacks. If he doesn’t, a winning season could be a tough ask.

Nebraska Just Hit A Recruiting Mark Husker Fans Rarely See
Nebraskas 2027 recruiting class has quietly become one of the more intriguing groups the program has assembled in years. With 22 verbal commitments and a national ranking of No. 18 by Rivals, the class already carries real weight, and it is being built around a cluster of high-end prospects that gives Husker fans something to track well before signing day arrives.
The bigger story is what this kind of start can mean for a program still trying to climb back into consistent national relevance under Matt Rhule. Nebraska has seen classes with promise before, but the challenge has always been turning early momentum into actual production, which means retention and development will matter as much as the rankings. For now, though, this is the sort of recruiting snapshot Nebraska has not been able to point to often, and it has naturally stirred memories of the last time the Huskers landed a class with this kind of top-end talent. Nebraska Just Entered A High Stakes Battle For A Legacy Defender
Nebraska has jumped into the mix for a defensive line prospect whose last name already carries plenty of weight. The Huskers extended an offer to a 2028 recruit with deep football and fighting roots, adding their name to a growing list of major programs tracking a player whose profile is rising quickly and whose family background will make every move he makes closely watched.
What makes this one worth monitoring for Nebraska is not just the offer, but the schedule that could follow. He is planning multiple trips to Lincoln over the next year, giving the Huskers a real chance to build on the early interest while facing stiff competition from several established programs that have already made their own push. Nebraska Recruiting Surge Just Added Another Name Fans Will Worry About
Nebraskas 2027 recruiting class keeps growing, and the latest addition gives the Cornhuskers another high-end piece to sell to future receivers. Four-star wideout Khalil Taylor is now in the fold, adding to a class that already has serious momentum and giving Nebraska another name to point to as it builds out the offensive side of the board.
Taylor is the 22nd commitment in the class and the third receiver, which is exactly the kind of volume that can make a cycle feel different if the staff keeps stacking wins. The challenge, as always, is holding it together long enough for the class to stick, especially with the recruiting calendar still offering plenty of chances for the picture to change. [Read more 🡒]
