Nebraska Gains Edge for Two Top 2027 Recruits After Key Weekend

Nebraska football is making early waves in the 2027 recruiting race, emerging as a top contender for two highly touted four-star prospects.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are wasting no time making waves in the 2027 recruiting cycle - and after a strong showing at their recent Junior Day, the early returns are promising. With a dozen high-profile prospects on campus last weekend, Matt Rhule’s staff is laying the groundwork for what could be a pivotal class in the program’s rebuild.

One name that jumped off the visitors list? Timi Aliu, a four-star offensive tackle out of Locust Grove, Georgia.

At 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds, Aliu already looks the part of a Big Ten lineman - and the recruiting services agree. He’s currently ranked No. 257 nationally in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Aliu’s visit to Lincoln clearly left an impression. “The feeling at Nebraska, the facilities, the coaches, the fanbase - it all connects together really, really well,” Aliu said following his trip. That kind of feedback is exactly what Husker fans want to hear from a blue-chip prospect, especially one at a premium position like offensive tackle.

The driving force behind Nebraska’s pursuit of Aliu has been offensive line coach Geep Wade. And based on early buzz, Wade may be on the verge of landing his first high school commitment as a Husker assistant.

That would be a major win, considering Aliu holds 22 offers from programs like Georgia, Florida, Auburn, and Florida State. Nebraska isn’t just in the mix - they’re leading it.

And it’s not just the trenches where Nebraska is making moves.

Down in Florida, four-star cornerback Bryce Williams is another top-250 prospect trending toward the Huskers. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound defensive back recently dropped his top six schools, and Nebraska made the cut alongside Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Syracuse.

Williams, ranked No. 217 nationally by the Rivals Industry Rankings, has become a priority target for the Huskers’ defensive staff - and the recruiting momentum is real. The Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine currently gives Nebraska a 97% chance of landing him, bolstered by three expert projections in their favor.

Now, let’s not get ahead of ourselves - Williams isn’t expected to make a final decision until after his official visits later this year. But when you’re competing with SEC and ACC heavyweights for elite talent, having this kind of early edge is no small feat.

Bottom line: Nebraska is starting to turn heads on the recruiting trail. Between Aliu in the trenches and Williams in the secondary, the 2027 class is shaping up to be one to watch. And if these early trends hold, the Huskers might just be building something special in Lincoln.
