Nebraska Football Targets Another Five-Star Talent Amid Recruiting Surge

Nebraska football leads the charge for top recruit Ahmad Hudson, but must outpace fierce competition to secure his commitment.

Nebraska football is off to a roaring start with their 2027 recruiting class, already securing commitments from two top-50 prospects, including a coveted five-star recruit. But the Huskers aren't slowing down-they’ve set their sights on another top-tier talent, Ahmad Hudson. This 6-foot-5, 239-pound tight end from Louisiana is turning heads, ranked as the top player at his position and 17th overall in the 2027 class, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Hudson has already formed a strong connection with Nebraska's quarterback commit, Trae Taylor, another top-50 recruit. Their chemistry was evident when they teamed up during a 7-on-7 tournament hosted by Nebraska last summer.

Hudson has visited the Nebraska campus three times, and while a recent trip fell through, a spring visit is still on the horizon, with an official visit likely to follow.

Nebraska is currently leading the charge for Hudson, as reported by Sam Spiegelman of Rivals. This kind of momentum is promising, though it’s reminiscent of past pursuits where top recruits slipped away to other programs.

LSU and Texas A&M are formidable contenders in this race. With Hudson hailing from Louisiana, the pull to stay close to home is strong, making Nebraska’s pursuit even more challenging.

Landing Hudson would mark a significant triumph for head coach Matt Rhule, potentially the pinnacle of his recruiting career. However, Nebraska will need to back up their recruiting efforts with strong performances on the field to seal the deal.

While it's early in the process and much will depend on upcoming visits, Nebraska currently holds the lead in this high-stakes recruiting battle. The journey to signing day is long, and as always, the visits will play a pivotal role in shaping Hudson’s decision.
